Gregory Everett Proops is an American stand-up comic, actor, and television host. Proops began his acting career in the 1990 TV series Midnight Caller. After that, he appeared in the 1990s TV series like Viva Cabaret (1993), Family Matters (1996), Mike Hammer, Private Eye (1998), and more.
His other acting credits include Cyxork 7 (movie 2006), Easy to Assemble (TV series 2008-2012), Schooled (TV series 2019, Shepard (film 2020).
Proops has also voiced on several animated shows such as Stripperella (2003-2004), Sprout Diner (2006), Bob the Builder: Bob's Mini Projects (2008), Bob the Builder (1999-2009), and The Powerpuff Girls (2017-2018), among others.
In addition, Proops has worked on the Star Wars saga. In Star Wars: Episode I–The Phantom Menace, he portrayed the part of Fode. Early Bio
Gregory Everett Proops was born in Phoenix, AZ on 3 October 1959. Growing up in San Carlos, California, a suburb south of San Francisco, Proops attended San Francisco State University, where he studied improvisation and acting.
He then attended San Francisco State University and took improvisation and acting classes, but he never completed his education.
'Whose Line Is It Anyway?'
Proops joined an improv group with Mike McShane after graduation. Producers Dan Patterson and Mark Leveson saw Proops and McShane and eventually cast them on Whose Line Is It Anyway? It is a comedy skit TV show hosted by Aisha Tyler based on the British series of the same name.
The cast members, Wayne Brady, Colin Mochrie, Ryan Stiles, and one or two other guests, perform improvised and made-up on-the-spot comedy skits. The show has released up to 18 seasons in the US version and ten seasons in the UK version.
Proops appeared on the series from 2014 to 2021 as a guest performer for 20 episodes. He would constantly make jokes about many peculiarities and contrasts between British and American English, and he would frequently banter with Clive Anderson about that subject matter (among others).
When he was performing the program, he resided in London for four years and counts McShane, Richard Vranch, and Colin Mochrie among his greatest friends. He was recalled for the American version after the competition finished, and has since been a frequent "fourth participant."
