Who is Viviana Coles?

Viviana Coles is a licensed relationship and sex therapist. She is the president and lead psychotherapist at Houston Relationship Therapy, founded in 2008. Further, she is also the president and lead instructor at the Texas Sex Therapy Institute, established in 2012. 

Coles started appearing as a relationship expert on the hit reality television show Married at First Sight in 2019. In addition, she is an author of a book titled 'The 4 Intimacy Styles: The Key to Lasting Physical Intimacy,' published in 2021.

Early Life and Nationality

Coles was born in Houston, Texas, on 30 December 1981, and she celebrated her 40th birthday in 2021. Coles is of mixed ethnicity and holds American nationality. Her father is from Colombia, and her mother is from Mexico. 

After completing high school at Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart in 2000, Coles graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Southwestern University in 2003. She then earned a Doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University in 2011.

National Sex Therapy Institute

Coles is the founder and president of the National Sex Therapy Institute, which offers a 'Sex Therapy Certification Program' to certify mental health professionals as sex therapists. 

According to its official website, the institute is dedicated to providing sex therapy training to medical health professionals to increase their competency, confidence, marketability, and the ability to expand their careers to the next level.

'Married at First Sight'

On its ninth season, Coles joined the cast members of Lifetime's hit reality television show Married at First Sight, replacing Jessica Griffin.

Created by Lotte Offenberg Bergqvist, the show follows singles yearning for a life-long partnership as they agree to marry partners chosen for them by a team of relationship experts.

As a relationship expert on the show, Coles is partly responsible for matching the couples and providing advice for the new pair on achieving a healthy relationship. 

Speaking about the matching process, Coles said that she and the other experts of the show work hard to bring two individuals together who would seem perfect together. Also, they never deliberately match the couple if they know the couple wouldn't be good together. But, the show has led to some couples choosing to part their ways with bad terms with each other. 

However, the show also led to some pairs determining to remain married on Decision Day, and after beyond the show like Austin Hurd-Jessica Studer.

Husband

Coles is married to her husband, Bob. The couple married in 2007 as Coles took to Instagram on 18 July 2021 to mark their 14th wedding anniversary. They have two children together.

Although Coles keeps her relationship private, she frequently posts pictures with her husband on Instagram. Most recently, in 2022, she posted their picture on Valentine's Day, expressing her love for her husband.
