Charles was born and raised in Buffalo city of the US state of Wyoming. Other than that, the singer has not disclosed any facts related to his age, birthday, parents, education, and early life.
The Wyoming native singer also has a YouTube channel where he regularly uploads his original music videos. He created his self-titled channel on 23 July 2009. However, he only began posting videos in 2014. As of now, 10.2k people have subscribed to his channel, and it has accumulated a total of 1.5 million views.

Later, he relocated from his hometown in Buffalo, WY, to Seattle, Washington, in pursuit of a successful music career.
Charles released the music video of his first single, Getting Western, on Youtube on 30 May 2020. As of today, the video has accumulated over 841k views. It followed his second music video, Old Dirt Fancy, which he launched on 1 May 2021. Apart from it, Charles has also recently featured on music artist Ian Munsick’s 2022 track, Cowboy Killer.

Semi-Finalist of 'American Song Contest'
On 21 March 2022, NBC premiered a brand new reality series, American Song Contest. It is basically a music competition involving three stages, qualifying rounds, semi-finals, and a grand finale. A total of 56 contenders compete for eight weeks to win the title of 'Best Original Song.' Among the lot is the Wyoming native, Ryan Charles.
The first five weeks of the competition are the qualifying rounds, the next weeks are the semi-finals, and the last week is the grand final. Again, 56 participants are divided into five groups, and they perform their original music on their respective allocated week episodes. Out of 56, 20 contestants directly advance to the semi-final stage after public and jury voting. In addition, the jury again decides on two redemption songs and sends them through to the semi-finals making a total of 22 semi-finalists.
Charles performed his original song, ‘New Boot Goofin’ in the first episode of the series. Initially, his music failed to click with the public and jury, and he got eliminated from the show. However, on 18 April 2022, the show host Kelly Clarkson announced Charles’ song as one of the two redemption songs. Thus, he made it to the semi-final round alongside 21 other contestants.
NBC aired the first semi-final round on 25 April 2022. Charles’ performed a reprised version of his original 'New Boot Goofin.' We will have to wait until the next episode airs 2 May to see if he can go through to the grand final.
The contestants that performed in semi-final 1 on 25 April are Allen Stone, Riker Lynch, Ryan Charles, Mari, Ni/Co, Hueston, Ada LeAnn, Jordan Smith, Jared Lee, Jonah Prill, and AleXa. The other remaining 11 contenders are Tenelle, Stella Cole, Enisa, John Morgan, Grant Knoche, Broderick Jones, Sweet Taboo, Tyler Braden, Chloe Fredericks, Michael Bolton, and Christian Pagan. They will perform on the semi-final 2 episode on 2 May 2022.
