Jessica Lucas is an actress and singer. She kicked off her professional acting career as a stage actress. She has performed in local productions of Cinderella, Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs, Grease, and The Music Medley.

She began her on-screen career guest-starring in an episode of the television series Seven Days in 2000. She then appeared in the teen drama TV series Edgemont in 2001 in a recurring role of Bekka Lawrence, subsequently becoming a series regular and remaining on the show until its end in 2005. In 2002, she was a series regular on another Canadian television show, YTV's short-lived 2030 CE.

Following that, she appeared in over a dozen television series, including The L Word, Melrose Place, Friends with Benefits, and Cult. She also starred in the 2014 television miniseries Gracepoint. Her film credits included The Covenant (2006), Cloverfield (2008), Evil Dead (2013), and That Awkward Moment (2014).

From 2015 until 2019, she portrayed Tabitha Galavan on the Fox TV show Gotham. Jessica Lucas was born in Vancouver, Canada, on 24 September 1985. She belongs to African-Canadian and Caucasian ethnicity. From 1992 to 1994, she took professional theater training at Children's Theatre Arts School in Toronto.

Lucas has not disclosed much information about her parents. She just said in an interview that her mother is white and her father is black but Canadian for many generations. Some sites claim that her mother is of Caucasian descent and her father is of African-Canadian descent.

Gotham is an action crime drama series that ran on Fox from 2014 to 2019. Lucas joined the cast of Gotham in Season 2 in 2015 as a series regular. She portrayed the role of Tabitha Galavan in the series.

Gotham is set in the fictional crime-ridden Gotham City and follows the story of young Bruce Wayne (played by David Mazouz), who becomes an orphan when his parents are murdered in front of him. The series also chronicles the story of the rise of prominence of police detective James Gorden (played by Ben McKenzie) in Gotham City in the years before the arrival of Batman. The couple began dating in April 2013 as Jermasek took to Instagram on 16 April 2014 to celebrate their one year of togetherness. After dating for four years, they got engaged in 2017. He proposed to her while the couple was on vacation in Florence, Italy.

The Canadian actress also shared a photo with Alex on Instagram, confirming her engagement with her five-year boyfriend at the time. Alex, too, published the same image on Instagram, gushing over the message that she had said "yes" to marrying him.

Following a year of engagement, the pair married on 12 May 2018. Lucas celebrated her two-month wedding anniversary in July 2018 on her Instagram.
