Gina Hiraizumi is an actress best known for her role in the TV series Doom Patrol.

Who is Gina Hiraizumi?

Gina Hiraizumi is an American actress born on 20 November 1980. She is the eldest of three sisters and grew up together in Gardena, California, but spent summers in Tokyo.

She attended regular American schools and two private Japanese schools. Hiraizumi is bilingual and speaks English and Japanese fluently. In an interview with UCLA, she revealed that she was raised with Japanese-style discipline and work ethic from preschool to 12th grade.

Hiraizumi is also a classically trained pianist, studied at Yamaha Music for over ten years. She spent years in Tokyo, initially pursuing an overseas singing career. However, she later pursued an acting career.

Hiraizumi began her acting career in 1999 after appearing in the TV series Frat Ratz as Vanessa. After that, she starred in several credits in the following years: Spyder Games (TV series 2001), The Source (movie 2002), Only the Brave (movie 2006), Titan Maximum (TV series 2009), and more.

In 2014, she landed a role as Dr. Lisa Choo for two episodes in Seers of the Ninth Island. In 2017, starred in several TV movies such as The Wrong Crush, A Very Merry Toy Store, The Ugly Christmas Sweater, A Christmas Cruise, and The Wrong Man.

However, Hiraizumi is best known for her appearance in the 2019 TV series Doom Patrol. She played the role of Sachiko for three episodes in 2021, alongside Matthew Zuk, Riley Shanahan, and Sarah Borne among others.  

Her most recent appearance was as Lisa in the movie Labor, Lies, and Murder, released in 2022.

Japanese- American Parents

Hiraizumi's father's name is Gary, and her mother's name is Kumiko. Her father is a third-generation Japanese-American, and her mother is Japanese.

Hiraizumi comes from a multigenerational lineage of successful entrepreneurs. Her parents owned several businesses and growing up in mature business settings by default provided her with a profound understanding of entrepreneurship at a young age.

Her father was the CEO of a travel agency for over 40 years, enabling the family to live an international lifestyle.

Wedding

Hiraizumi has been married to her husband Blayne since 17 July 2016. The couple currently lives in Los Angeles, California. On 22 July 2016, she shared a post of their wedding on Instagram and wrote, "Husband and Wife."

On 21 January 2021, she shared an Instagram picture of her wedding and mentioned that she had been in multiple relationships prior to dating her husband. She also shared, "7 years together & 4 of those married. I joke and say he’s the longest relationship I’ve ever had....but it’s true. I used to trade-up guys so easily in my 20s....but the kind of man you marry is VERY different than the guys you date!"

Her Daughter and Advocacy

Hiraizumi and her husband, Blayne, have a daughter named Brooke, born in October 2021.

After giving birth to her daughter, she posted a picture on Instagram on 13 October 2021. She wrote, "My daughter has arrived." Hiraizumi continued on another paragraph, "It was not the easiest labor. I'll share when I'm ready but what's most important - we were able to take her home and she is a healthy beautiful girl."

Unfortunately, Hiraizumi has suffered from multiple miscarriages while trying to conceive naturally with her husband.

She is a passionate advocate for infertility and IVF and is open to sharing her story. Hiraizumi hopes that her story, like many other celebrities, will continue to remove the stigma and show other women in identical situations that they are not alone.
