Tasya van Ree is a Hawaii native photographer and painter. She came to the limelight after her romantic association with Aquaman actress Amber Heard.

Short Bio

Tasya van Ree is a renowned American fashion photographer, artist, painter, and entrepreneur. She was born on 30 April 1976. Born in Mililani, Hawaii, she lived there until completing her high school education. 

She studied photography during her time there. Later, she moved to Los Angeles to receive a college education but left it in between to pursue a career in photography.

Tasya has photographed several famous personalities to date. Her list of celebrity models includes renowned celebrities like Amber Heard, Katherine Moennig, Matt Dallas, and Michael Rodriguez.

Moreover, she has one credit as an actress in the 2013 short film Kill of the Night. She played the character of the killer in the movie.

Art and Photography

Tasya is known for capturing the essence of romanticism and intimacy in her photographs. She is also recognized for making black and white portraits of celebrities to what she refers to as "surreal visual." 

Besides photography, she has expanded her reach to other art forms like painting, filming, and sculpture making. In January 2016, Tasya's artworks were exhibited in Los Angeles, featuring her then most recent artwork titled 'Theory of Dreams.'

For instance, on 10 December 2021, she shared photos of her most recent project, 'THE UNTAMED ELEMENTAL,' 52-Card Oracle Deck. According to the post, she worked on it for two years. The book's launch is on 15 March 2022.

Tasya and her former girlfriend Amber began their relationship in 2008. The pair also had a "secret marriage" the March of the same year. 

They entered into a legally binding domestic partnership, following which Amber changed her name from Amber Heard to Amber Van Ree. However, they only celebrated their relationship publicly in 2011. The ceremony was held in New York after gay marriage was legalized in the USA.

Tasya and Amber stayed together for around four years. However, they parted ways in 2012. Following the separation, Amber soon began dating famous Hollywood actor Johnny Depp and eventually married him in February 2015. But again, she divorced him in January 2017.

Amber is an actress with over 50 acting credits and a few credits as a producer. However, she has mainly gained fame for her appearances in movies like Paranoia (2013), Justice League (2017), Aquaman (2018), etc.

Amber Heard's Arrest

On 14 September 2009, Port of Seattle Police arrested Tasya's former girlfriend, Amber Heard, following domestic abuse accusations. According to a June 2016 report on USA Today, Tasya and Amber got into a rift at Seattle Tacoma International Airport. There, Amber supposedly struck Tasya'a arm leading to her arrest.

However, according to Tanya, Amber's arrest was a mistake by the authorities. The police officials who were present during the incident at the airport misjudged the situation and wrongfully took her into custody.

The day after the arrest, on 15 September 2009, Tasya refused to press any legal charges and stood to support Amber. Moreover, she expressed her sadness regarding the incident in a statement that read,

"It's disheartening that Amber's integrity and story are being questioned yet again. Amber is a brilliant, honest, and beautiful woman, and I have the utmost respect for her. We shared 5 wonderful years together and remain close to this day."
