'This Is Us'
Hilson was 23 years old when she auditioned and booked the role of Beth Clark on NBC's award-winning romantic comedy-drama series, This is Us in 2019.
She had only watched a few episodes of the series before she auditioned for the show. But, she immersed herself, binge-watched the series, and learned as much as she could about it.
This is Us shows three stages of Beth Clark's life. Hilson portrays the teenage and college student part while Susan Kelechi Watson plays the adult part. Her binge-watching helped her to look and act like Watson.
The hair and makeup department helped make Hilson look like Beth. She also wore special contact lenses to look like Watson, who has a mole in her eye. Watson was surprised to see Hilson's acting and appreciated her for it.
During a press screening, Watson said Hilson did "an amazing" job by helping contextualize Beth for her.
Speaking about her experience working on the show in an interview with ESSENCE in October 2020, Hilson said, "It's fun as an actor to dive into why a character might be a specific way. I was studying her, certainly, but I was also interested in [Beth] as a teenager."
She further described her character Beth as "a strong Black woman who is the foundation of the Pearson household. She's Randall's rock, and she's the kid's rock."
'Love, Victor'

Hilson was a part of the series since the first season of Love, Victor. The third and final season will premiere on 15 June 2022. The first two seasons each consisted of ten episodes, and the third season will consist of eight episodes.
