Noah George Taylor is an Australian musician and actor born on 4 September 1969 in London, England. He was born as the eldest child to Maggie, a journalist and book editor, and Paul Taylor, a copywriter, and journalist. His parents divorced when Taylor was a teenager. His father later remarried Suzie Howie, a theatre publicist.

Taylor left home at the age of 16 and began acting before graduating from University High School in Melbourne. He then attended St. Martin's Youth Theater. 

Taylor's time at St. Martin earned him a role in the 1987 film The Year My Voice Broke, in which he played Danny Embling. Taylor also reprised his role in its sequel, Flirting (1991), released four years later. Additionally, he received an 'Academy Award' nomination for both films. 

Besides Flirting, he also appeared in other movies and TV series in 1991; The Last Crop (TV Movie), Boys from the Bush (TV Series), Inspector Morse (TV Series), and more. 

In 1996, Taylor landed the lead role of David Helfgott in the movie Shine. The film is directed by Scott Hicks and follows a pianist named David Helfgott, who has a nervous breakdown despite the efforts of his father and teachers. Years later, he returned to the piano to acclaim from the public, if not the critics.

Subsequently, he portrayed the title character Simon in Simon Magus (1999) and the darkly humorous protagonist Danny in He Died with a Felafel in His Hand (2001). In addition to that, he played young Adolf Hitler in the drama Max in 2002.

Taylor also starred in other notable TV series and movies like The Borgias (TV Series 2012), Edge of Tomorrow (Movie 2014), Peaky Blinders (TV Series 2014), Free Fire (Movie 2016), Skyscraper (Movie 2018), Preacher (TV Series 2017-2019), and more.
