Nicoletta Peyran is an actress and assistant director of The Last Emperor (1987) and The Sheltering Sky (1990). She is best recognized for being John Malkovich's long-time partner. 

Who is Nicoletta Peyran?

Nicoletta Peyran was born on 9 December 1953 in Italy. She studied at Peking University, Beijing, China, in the late 1970s. 

Peyran was involved in the entertainment business from 1987 to 1990. Although she isn't known for being an actress, in 1979, she portrayed Wei Na's character in the Chinese romantic/drama film, Not for love. This movie made her the actress to perform the first on-screen kiss in China.

In the 80s, she moved on to the behind-the-scenes works of film production. She was the third assistant director for The Last Emperor (1987) and Transformations (1988). She was the second assistant director for The Sheltering Sky (1990). 

AS of 2022, she left directing and became an academic.

Family

Peyran and actor John Malkovich first met in North Africa during the shoot of The Sheltering Sky (1990). They eventually got married on 20 September 1989, and they have two children together. They welcomed their firstborn child Amandine in 1990 and second-born child Lowey in 1992.  

After their children were born, her husband John Malkovich took some time off acting. He later said in an interview that if he had continued working while his children were growing up, he would not meet them often. And as they became older, Malkovich continued his acting and working in films. 

During their early years, the family lived in France for a while. They later relocated to Cambridge, Massachusetts. Their daughter Amandine works in a grocery shop while their son Loewy lives in Oregon and is a computer coder as of 2022. 

John Malkovich Bio

John Malkovich was born on 9 December 1953 in Christopher, Illinois, to his parents, Joe Anne (Choisser) and Daniel Leon Malkovich. Joe Anne was a local newspaper owner, and Daniel Leon Malkovich was a state conservation director. Although they were a well-to-do family, his parents inducted corporal punishments to him and his siblings. Later he went on to mention that, although it was violence, they received beatings only when they deserved it.  

John Malkovich debuted as a blind lodger in Places in the Heart (1984), earning him an 'Oscar' nomination. Further in his career, movies like Death of a Salesman (1985) earned him an 'Emmy.' Line of Fire (1993) earned him an 'Academy Award' and a 'Golden Globe' nomination. 

He is likewise known for his roles in The Killing Fields (1984), The Glass Menagerie (1987), Dangerous Liaisons (1988) with Michelle Pfeiffer, and Heart of Darkness (1993).

John Malkovich's First Marriage 

Before Malkovich was committed to Nicoletta Peyran, he was married to Glenne Headly from 2 August 1982 to 1 January 1988. According to the daily mail, they got divorced because he had an extramarital relationship with Michelle Pfeiffer while working for Dangerous Liaisons. 

Headly was also an actress, and they were together before they gained fame. She is best recognized for her roles in the classic comedy Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Mr. Holland's Opus. After the divorce, Headly got married to Bryon McCulloch and had a child with him.

Unfortunately, she passed away in June 2017 at the age of 62 due to complications from a pulmonary embolism.
