Lyle Trachtenberg is a former actor. He is best known as the ex-husband of famous American actress Whoopi Goldberg.

Lyle Trachtenberg is a former actor and TV personality. His global fame is primarily from his brief marriage with Oscar-winning American actress Whoopi Goldberg. Moreover, he has also gained recognition as a minor character in the 1998 film Beach Movie. Besides acting, Trachtenberg has contributed to several TV talk shows and TV movies. She is a veteran in the acting industry. She began her career with an uncredited role in the 1982 film Citizen. Her most notable acting credits are Ghost (1990 film), Star Trek: The Next Generation (1988-1993 TV series), Whoopi (2003-2004 TV series), Glee (2012-2014 TV series), Instinct (2018 TV series), etc. Her most recent acting work was Barb's voice in the TV series Summer Camp Island (2019-2021).

Whoopi Goldberg Says She's 'Very Happy' Single

In November 2019, the veteran View moderator and three-time divorced explained why she doesn't mind living alone on The Tamron Hall Show.

"People keep saying 'Well, you'll find somebody,'" Goldberg stated. "I'm not looking for anyone. I am very happy. I don't want to live with anybody."

However, she doesn't live alone. Goldberg has a companion who is a little possessive of her. "I have a cat. A 20-year-old cat who is attitudinal. So he will leave little treats for anybody that's not me in the bed," she explained about her cat, Oliver.

When Hall inquired if Oliver was stopping Goldberg from meeting someone new, she replied that she had decided on her own.

"I'm blocking," Goldberg noted. "But I know what he will do if I bring somebody in. For me, there is a commitment. When you make a commitment to someone else, it's a commitment to ask their opinion and listen and work it out with them. I don't want to do that. I don't want to share money. I know it's terrible, but I don't want to do it. I know for me it doesn't work."

She also added that her priorities are her family and friends.

Whoopi Goldberg said Marriage Isn't for Her

In 2019, Whoopi Goldberg offered an open and encouraging interview about her feelings about marriage and the societal pressure on women to have a relationship and settle down.

"Look, people expect you to have a boyfriend," Goldberg told the New York Times after being asked about the influence she felt she had played in her marriages. "They expect you to get married. So I kept trying to do that, but I didn't want to share information with somebody else. I didn't want anybody asking me why I was doing what I was doing, or to have to make the other person feel better. But if you're in a relationship, you have to do those things, and it took me a while to figure out that I didn't want to."

Before that, she also spoke to Times, saying marriage wasn't her cup of tea. "I'd be thinking, why don't I feel the thing that I'm supposed to?" Goldberg revealed in the Times interview. "Then one day I thought: I don't have to do this. I don't have to conform. I tried marriage, and it wasn't for me. You can't be in a marriage because everybody's expecting you to."

She also stated that she was much happier on her own rather than having settled down. "I'm much happier on my own," Goldberg said. "I can spend as much time with somebody as I want to spend, but I'm not looking to be with somebody forever or live with someone. I don't want somebody in my house."

She is currently an insurance agent and serves as a producer at Cline Agency Insurance Brokers in Santa Monica, California.
