Larry Potash is an Emmy-winning news anchor and TV reporter best recognized as the Morning News anchor and documentary series presenter on WGN TV.

Who is Larry Potash? 

Larry Potash is a 14-time Emmy winner and a well-established news anchor and reporter. He is currently known as a news anchor on the Morning News Show for WGN TV. 

Potash joined WGN in August 1994. After a year of his recruitment, he started anchoring the Morning News segment. Then, in 1996, he traveled to Asia with the purpose of making his daily feature multi-series Larry's World. In the documentary series, he covered various news articles, shared fun moments, and explored hidden facts about the pop culture of the people from Hong Kong and their transition to Chinese sovereignty. 

Later in October 2018, Potash returned with his new series, Backstory with Larry Potash. He explored backstories from Chicago with fascinating historical-tales, religious, scientific, and cultural stories. The series' special episodes are broadcast on WGN TV at periodic intervals throughout the year.

Before joining WGN, Potash worked as a weekend anchor and political reporter at Oklahoma-based KOTV TV. 

For his contribution to his outstanding achievements in his broadcasting career, Potash was rewarded with 14 'Emmy Awards.' His history show Backstory with Larry Potash was awarded the 'Best Magazine Show' back in 2020. Moreover, it also received Silver Dome Awards as the best documentary show two times in 2019 and 2020. Furthermore, he was also awarded ten 'Silver Dome Awards' as the best anchor in Chicago by the Illinois Broadcasters Association.    

Larry's popular Morning News Show on WGN TV celebrated its 25 anniversary in September 2019. He shared a picture of the 25th Anniversary celebration with two other WGN TV co-hosts on his Instagram account.

Larry Potash was born on 2 May 1967 in Boston, Massachusetts. Unfortunately, he has not shared his family details and early life on any authentic media sources. Regarding education, he holds a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Mass Communication and Broadcast Journalism from Emerson College located in Boston. 

Is Larry Potash married?

Larry Potash married his wife, Lisa, in the year 2000. Currently, they are parenting their two children, both daughters, Kaylin and Mallory. Unfortunately, he has not disclosed further details of his wife and married life with the media or the public.

Is Larry Potash leaving WGN news? 

Larry Potash has been one of the crucial member of the TV channel WGN since 1995. As of now, there is no relevant news regarding him taking a leave from the channel. 

Moreover, one of his recent Facebook post suggest he is still working on the channel. On 27 May 2022, he shared a picture from WGN set with former American football player BO Jackson and his WGN co-anchor Mike Toomy. 

Potash also tagged the official Facebook page of WGN-TV, WGN Morning News which further points out that he is still the news anchor of the show. His Facebook post read,

"A WGN Morning News EXCLUSIVE - Bo Jackson at WGN. He only scored 50% on the Bo Knows Bo quiz but hit a couple of liners of @miketoomey in wiffle ball."
