Joey Jones | Biography

FOX News Military Commentator

Joey Jones is a retired Marine officer who became a motivational speaker and television show host.

Who is Joey Jones?

Johnny 'Joey' Jones was born and raised in Dalton, Georgia, Atlanta. He was the first person in his family to graduate high school when he graduated from Southeast Whitfield Highschool in 2004.

After high school, he worked as a forklift operator and took a few classes at Dalton State College. Then he decided to join the Marine Corps. He was only 18 years old when he was sent to Parris Island, South Carolina, for initial training.

During his five years in marine, he learned combat deployment and became an Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) technician. Eventually, on 6 August 2010, he was deployed to Helmand Province in Afghanistan. While in the process of destroying explosive devices during a routine drill, Jones mistakenly stepped on a hidden Improvised explosive device (IED).

Jones lost both his legs and injured both his wrists and right forearm. He underwent multiple surgeries and physical therapies after being installed with prosthetic legs. However, he gradually recovered in Washinton and retired from the marine in 2012.

He finished college from Georgetown University in liberal studies and social and public policy in 2014. After that, he stayed in Washington, where he participated in the House Committee on Veteran's Affairs.

Motivational Speaker and Joining FOX News

Jones established a peer visit program at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Washington following his injuries. Then he worked as Chief Operating Officer for the national charity Boot Campaign.

He concentrated on educating the public about the issues that affect veterans and their families. As a result, the Boot Campaign today supports the veteran community's health and welfare through a pipeline of treatment options.

After that, he also worked for Marcus Luttrell's, Never Quit Bureau, where he shared his expertise as a motivational speaker and leadership consultant. In addition, he was the senior advisor to military programming at Zac Brown's Camp Southern Ground, where he mostly devised and executed a Warrior Week military transition program.

Furthermore, in 2019, Jones became a contributor to FOX News Media. In this position, he delivered military commentary across all FOX News Media platforms, including FOX News Channel, FOX Business Network (FBN), and FOX Nation. He also anchors FOX Nation Outdoors on the network's digital streaming service FOX Nation and the FOX News Audio series Proud American.

Is Joey Jones married?

Jones is presently married to boot camp manager Meg Garrison. The couple tied knots on 30 September 2012 while initially met at high school in 2003.

However, Jones was previously married and had a son from that relationship. Then with Garrison, he has three daughters. The couple manages a Texas-based non-profit organization for navy veterans.
