Jessica Lowe is an American actress best known for her role as Ginger Warnick in the romantic comedy film Blended (2014).

Who is Jessica Lowe?

Jessica Lowe is an actress, voice artist, sketch comedian, and writer. She launched her on-screen acting career in 2007, appearing as Raquel Roman in the short film Adult Situations. 

Lowe eventually landed her breakout role as Ginger Warnick in the 2014 romantic comedy film Blended. Her next notable role came a couple of years later when she starred as pretentious feminist Florence Bitterman in the TBS comedy action-adventure series Wrecked (2016-2018). 

Lowe also lent her voice to several animated characters on television series like Bob’s Burgers from 2015 to 2019 and Star Trek: Lower Decks in 2021.

In January 2022, she began appearing as Lindy Lissons in the comedy-drama television series The Righteous Gemstones.

Age and Early Bio

Lowe’s birthday falls on 21 February. However, she has not disclosed her age. Some online sources claim she was born in 2000, but her fans speculate the information to be incorrect. So her real age is yet to be known. 

Nevertheless, Lowe was brought up by her parents in Wisconsin. Her father is a vascular surgeon, and she has one brother.

In an interview with Toronto Sun in 2014, Lowe said she began performing at a very young age, imitating her favorite characters and sketches of Saturday Night Live. She said she forced her family to watch her performance at age five.

In high school, she was part of a speech and debate honor society called the National Forensic League, and her forte was Humorous Interpretation. According to her LinkedIn profile, she enrolled at Northwestern University in 2003. She initially majored in math but soon switched to psychology and communications.

After graduating from the university in 2007, she moved to Los Angeles and worked with improvisational and comedy theaters like The Groundlings, Westside Comedy Theatre, and Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. 

In 2009, she moved to Amsterdam after being hired by improv theater and comedy club Boom Chicago, where she said she did six shows a week with a group of American ex-pats.

‘Blended’

Lowe was in her teens when she made her screen debut in Blended, released on 23 May 2014 in the USA. The film follows Jim (played by Adam Sandler) and Lauren (played by Drew Barrymore), who agrees never to meet again after their blind date goes terrible. However, the two warm to each other on a holiday trip in South Africa.

Lowe portrayed the role of Ginger, a mousy-voiced wife of Eddy (played by Kevin Nealon) and stepmother of Jake (played by Zak Henri). Ginger and Eddy can’t keep their hands off each other while on the South Africa vacation. Jake isn’t like Ginger much because she is his stepmother, and she is only about seven years older than him. Jake is 19 years old, so Ginger is about 26 in Blended.

In a May 2014 interview with Cine Movie, Lowe stated she wasn’t expecting to win the role in the film, but she took advice from Breaking Bad actor Bryan Cranston’s article and impressed the casting agents during the audition. She subsequently got her role in the film.

Personal Life

On 29 January 2022, Lowe married actor, improviser, and writer Chris Alvarado. The couple got engaged on 10 January 2021 after dating for three years.

She previously was in an on-and-off relationship with Jonathan Lonegan, as per her January 2018 Twitter post. Before that, she revealed in another Twitter post in 2013 that she began dating a private investigator. She also dated a boy named Nick at an early age.
