Eric "ClipZ" Rivera is one of the three founders of the gaming organization FaZe Clan.

Who is Eric ClipZ Rivera?

Eric "ClipZ" Rivera is a YouTuber and gamer born on 29 December 1994 in the United States. He is widely recognized by his gaming handle ClipZ and as one of the three founders of the gaming organization, FaZe Clan. As of April 2022, he has earned almost 100,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel titled cilipz, which features several Fortnite videos.

In an interview with ESTNN in 2021, Rivera talked about how the concept of creating content emerged. He explained, "I knew about OpTic Gaming and stuff like that way back in the day. I was inspired by that, and one day I was just like, you know, I don't think I'll ever be able to join OpTic, so let's try to start my own thing with my friends."

He added, "Then I said, we should name it FaZe or HaZe, because I always had that in my clan tag. We ended up going with a FaZe Clan and Housecat started the YouTube channel the next day. We had ILLCAMS out by the end of the week and the rest is history." 

In the same interview, Rivera also mentioned, "I don't think anybody could have predicted what was going to happen with FaZe and how it happened."

Rivera Is One Of The Three Founders Of FaZe Clan

FaZe Clan is one of the world's largest Esports organizations, founded in 2010. Along with Jeff "House Cat" Emann and Ben "Resistance" Christensen, Rivera founded the FaZe clan in 2010 as a Call of Duty team after meeting while playing COD Modern Warfare 2.

It has since become one of the world's most prominent and influential gaming organizations, known for its disruptive original content and hyper-engaged worldwide fans of over 510 million across social media platforms. Their roster consists of 79 members who are both gamers and content creators. 

After posting several videos of them playing different games on YouTube, FaZe Clan started to flourish and had reached 1 million subscribers by 2012. They have over 340 million followers as of April 2022. 

The organization also began competing in other tournaments, such as the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Major Championships and the Call of Duty Championship. The two competitions necessitated the formation of two separate teams that functioned independently. FaZe used a separate content creation arm at the time that did not compete in the competitions.

FaZe members Thomas "Temperrr" Oliveira and Richard "Banks" Bengston moved into a shared home in 2014 to better incorporate the clan's lifestyle and gaming content. After being a member since he was 16 years old, Thomas "Temperrr" became FaZe's first CEO. Meanwhile, Richard "Banks" was the FaZe's COO.

FaZe was operated under new ownership in 2018 - Greg Selkoe, the founder of Karmaloop, was named president of the clan, and Lee Trink, who had previously served in that capacity, was named full-time CEO. Later that year, the new administration launched FaZe Clan's Series A funding round, attracting investments from well-known musicians, athletes, and executives.

In 2021, FaZe Clan announced it would become a publicly-traded company. FaZe Clan joined forces with the B. Riley Principal 150 Merger Group. The contract between the two corporations was worth around $1 billion. 

FaZe stockholders own 68 percent of the newly formed company. FaZe's investors include Pitbull, Swae Lee, Kyler Murray, Ben Simmons, and more. Professional Basketball player LeBron James' son, Bronny, is also one of the company's content creators.
