David John Bradley is an English actor well-known for his roles as Walder Frey in HBO's Game of Thrones and as Argus Filch in the Harry Potter film series.

Who is David Bradley?

David John Bradley is an actor born on 17 April 1942 in York, Yorkshire, England. He debuted his acting career as a police officer in the TV Series Nearest and Dearest in 1971. The same year, Bradley appeared in another TV series, A Family At War, as Colin Woodcock. 

Subsequently, he was featured in notable projects like Coronation Street (TV series 1980), BBC2 Playhouse (TV series 1981), Tartuffe, or The Impostor (TV movie 1983), King of the Ghetto (TV series 1986), The Play on One (TV series 1989), Our Friends in the North (TV series 1996), The Way We Live Now (TV series 2001) and others.

However, Bradley is widely known for his recurring role as Lord Walder Frey in the popular HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones. Walder Frey's character is an evil and creepy lord with several wives and 29 children. Bradley appears in six episodes from 2011 to 2017. Besides, Bradley is also famous for his portrayal of Argus Filch in the movie series Harry Potter.

Bradley recently appeared in Britannia (2021) and After Life (2019-2022). Furthermore, he has an upcoming movie Allelujah which is currently in production.

'Harry Potter'

Harry Potter is a film series that follows Harry Potter and his mates Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger on their adventures at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The main plot revolves around Harry Potter's war with Lord Voldemort, an evil wizard. 

Harry Potter is separated into seven parts; Philosopher's Stone (2001), Chamber of Secrets (2002), Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Goblet of Fire (2005), Order of the Phoenix (2007), Half-Blood Prince (2009), and Deathly Hallows (2010-2011).

Bradley portrayed Argus Filch, who serves as the caretaker of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the films. He is frequently seen around the corridors of Hogwarts with his cat Mrs. Norris.

In a 2014 interview with Vulture, Bradley stated he is frequently stopped and asked to do Filch impressions or sign autographs. "When somebody's face lights up as they're walking towards me, I'm trying to guess, 'What is it they watch?' It's a little game, and I always get it wrong," he said.

Bradley's daughter, Francesca Bradley, also appears cameo in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (1998). Initially, Francesca was paying a visit to Bradley on the set one day, and the director, Chris Columbus, allowed her to appear in the film. She was then featured as an extra in the scene where Filch accuses Harry of murdering his cat, Mrs. Norris.

In a December 2021 interview with MyLondon, Bradley mentioned he became a "pushy parent" to make sure that his daughter, Francesca, was visible in the clip. He claimed to have maneuvered a boy who was blocking Francesca. As a result, she appears for a brief moment behind George Weasley's character during the scene with her father.

'After Life'

After Life is a dark comedy television show written by Ricky Gervais in which Bradley plays Ray Johnson. The series comprises three seasons, with the first season airing in March 2019 and the last season in January 2022. Bradley appeared in 14 episodes in three seasons.

After Life shows a writer whose wife dies suddenly, prompting him to adopt an impulsive and antagonistic personality to punish the rest of the world. However, this fails, and people try to change him for the better. 

The show also features Ricky Gervais (Tony Johnson), Ashley Jensen (Emma), Diane Morgan (Kath), Mandeep Dhillon (Sandy), and others.

Wife

Bradley has been married to his wife Rosanna since 1978. The couple has three children. However, not much is known about the couple's marriage and personal life.
