Daniel Schmachtenberger is the founding member of The Consilience Project.

Who Daniel Schmachtenberger?

Daniel Schmachtenberger is a social philosopher widely recognized as one of the founding fathers of the non-profit media organization, The Consilience Project.

He initiated the project to improve the health and development of individuals and society to foster a relationship between them.

Schmachtenberger has worked on projects to survey the landscape of existential and catastrophic risks, followed by advanced forecasting and mitigation strategies, and build capacities for the multi-agent coordination required to implement adequate solutions in the fields of sociology.

He believes that advancing collective intelligence and capacity is fundamental to the integrity of any civilization. And also, it is required to address the unique risks people currently face because of the intersection of globalization and exponential technology.

Schmachtenberger attended the Body Mind College and Maharishi International University, where he studied Counseling, Psychology, and Mathematics.

He has a diverse educational background in the natural sciences, social sciences, and philosophy, most of which he got outside of institutional settings.

Schmachtenberger is a founding member of The Consilience Project, a non-profit media organization that catalyzes critical conversations about human civilization's future to promote public sensemaking and dialogue.

The organization publishes novel studies on governance design, global risk mitigation, and culture. Moreover, the organization's content delves into the major challenges and existential threats confronting humanity and the underlying issues with current approaches to addressing them.

Their research also outlines the redesigns of social systems and institutions and how it must be for free, open, non-authoritarian societies to thrive. In addition, it aims to promote public perception and dialogue for civilizations emerging.

Father

Schmachtenberger was born to his father, Randy Schmachtenberger. But not much is known about him.

However, he has dedicated an essay about his father titled 'What I learned about being a man from my Dad,' uploaded on the website.

He had mentioned in the writing that his father was like a god to him when he was a kid. Schmachtenberger explained, "My dad was of an old breed of men that I might have thought only an embellished legend if I hadn't experienced it firsthand."

He further explained how his father taught him about Work, Integrity, Motivation, Capacity, Courage, Power, and more.

In the same writing, Schmachtenberger stated, "My Dad had a very unique and hard life that cultivated the physical heroism in him." He added, "One does not need to run towards bullets to be someone who lives with deep integrity and is in service to life. That is just one way those qualities can be expressed."

Besides, Schmachtenberger has also explained how her mother instilled in him a love of the arts, crafts, culture, world religions, and an early interest in activism. He also said that his childhood was a collaboration between his mother and father and included the memorable incidents of his young age.
