Who is Courtney Friel?

Courtney Friel is a well-known Journalist, TV host, anchor, and entertainment reporter. She is currently working at KTLA News as their weekend news anchor.

Friel was born to her father, Bernard, and her mother, Lois, on 22 April 1980 in the suburbs of Philadelphia, USA. Later, she temporarily relocated with her family to Maryland but again returned to her native state of Pennsylvania after a few years. She also has two siblings, sisters Meredith and Lindsay. 

At the beginning of her career, Friel worked as an anchor and reporter for the CBS affiliate channel in Palm Springs. After that, she joined the Tennessee-based ABC station as their news anchor. 

Further, Friel joined Fox News Channel (FNC) in 2007, where she worked as a Correspondent. In addition, while at FNC, she also co-hosted the Fox segment, Fox and Friends. After six years at the channel, she jumped to KTLA-TV in Los Angeles in 2013 as their weekend anchor.

Besides journalism and TV show hosting, Friel has also made quite an impact as an actress. She has gained nationwide fame for her role as a newscaster in several TV shows and movies, such as S.W.A.T. (2017 Movie), xXx: Return of Xander Cage (2017 Movie), Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013 TV Series), American Horror Story (2017 TV series), Veep (2019 TV series), etc. She is currently busy with her upcoming project, The Terminal List, where she will again appear as a news anchor. The TV series is set to release in 2022.

She Has Been Part of Two Marriages 

Courtney Friel was first married to her work colleague at CBS. News, Carter Evans. The pair first crossed each other's path in San Diego. Then, after dating for quite a while, they took their relationship one step further and tied wedding knots in May 2005.  

From their marriage, the couple became parents to their two children, son Cash, and daughter Cameron. As of now, Cameron is ten years old, and Cash is eleven. Unfortunately, after two children and 11 years of marriage, Friel and Evans decided to walk separate paths and divorced in 2016. However, even after their divorce, they are still on good terms and are co-parenting their children. 

Four years after separation from Evans, Friel moved on with her personal life and married her current husband, Jim Hecht, on 10 October 2020. The new couple recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary. Moreover, on occasion, Friel shared several pictures with Hecht on her Instagram handle. Alongside the photos, she also wrote an anniversary wish for her husband that read,

"Happy 1st wedding anniversary, my hubby @jimhecht. Thank you for being so easy breezy, and wonderful to me, Cash and Cam. Sharing my favorite moment of year 1 together- group hugging under the lanterns!"

Carter Evans Short Bio

Like Friel, her ex-husband Carter Evans is also a renowned journalist and news correspondent for CBS News in Los Angeles. He is a 1998 bachelor's degree graduate in broadcast journalism from Ithaca College. 

Evans started his journalism career as a freelance reporter for KGMB-TV in Honolulu. He further worked for news channels like WAVY-TV (2000), KCAL-TV (2003-2007), WWOR-TV, and CBS2. He also worked at CNN Newsource in 2008. 

In February 2013, Evans earned national fame as the only live reporter covering the scene between the former LAPD. Officer and suspected killer. With his courageous deeds, CBS news awarded him the title the Los Angeles-based correspondent.
