Who is Chad Pergram?
Born on 5 March 1969, Chad Pergram is an American journalist. He is a native of Jacksonburg, OH.
He graduated from Miami University with a bachelor's degree in political science in 1991 and a master's degree in communication in 1993. During his time at the university, he shared a house with future House Speaker and Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan.
Pergram started his professional journalism career while still in high school. First, he worked at WKRC-AM in Cincinnati as an intern, reporter, and anchor. Pergram then went to work for WMUB, a public radio station in Oxford, Ohio.
Pergram was a reporter for Capitol News Connection before joining Fox News Channel in September 2007. He also worked as a Senate producer for C-SPAN and produced and anchored newscasts for NPR in Washington.
Pergram also served as a senior Capitol Hill producer, capturing various historical moments from Capitol Hill, including the 2010 and 2018 midterm elections, the confirmation hearings for Justice Brett Kavanaugh and Justice Neil Gorsuch, and the 2016 presidential election cycle, and various legislative landmarks and showdowns.
In 2017, a shooting occurred at a baseball practice for Republican members of Congress blocks from Pergram's home in Alexandria, Virginia. The shooting fatally injured the then-House Majority Whip Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) and injured several others ahead of the annual Congressional game. Pergram was the first to report on the story when it broke and stayed with it throughout Scalise's recovery.
Besides, Pergram has also received many awards during his long career. In 2007, he received a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for reporting excellence for his outgoing House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX) reportage.
He was also named as a top 50 journalist of the year by the Washingtonian in 2009. Besides that, Pergram was the youngest recipient of the Radio/Television Correspondents Association's Joan S. Barone Award for Excellence in National Affairs/Public Policy Broadcast for his Washington-based broadcasts.
His Career at Fox News
Pergram currently works for the FOX News Channel as a congressional correspondent. He began working for the network in September 2007 and is now based in Washington, D.C.
On 6 January 2021, he reported live from inside the Capitol building as rioters surrounded it. Pergram, who was barricaded in the basement, broadcasted critical minute-by-minute news updates for fifteen hours until the building was held on the air.
He was also a mainstay of FNC's coverage of President Trump's first and second impeachments, breaking down the procedural elements and delivering a quick analysis. Nielsen Media Research reported that FNC's special media attention on the impeachment hearings surpassed all broadcast and cable news coverage.
He Had New York City Wedding
Pergram is married to Carrie Giddins Pergram. However, there are not many details about the couple since Pergram prefers a private lifestyle.
However, in 2011, Carrie Giddins Pergram commented on pictures of her and Pergram's wedding on Facebook. She wrote, "In only 5 shots, you captured exactly what I dreamed of for my NYC wedding. Amazing, I cannot thank you enough. And now I wait for the rest of the photos with even more anticipation."
