Candace McCowan is a reporter who began her journalism career at the ABC affiliate WJCL in Savannah, Georgia, in January 2007. She then reported for the CBS affiliate WREG - News Channel 3 in Memphis, Tennessee, from January 2009 to January 2014.
The news reporter then spent her next three years working as a political reporter and anchor at the NBC affiliate WFLA-TV in Tampa, Florida. During that time, she interviewed top politicians like Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, and Jeb Bush in the battle for the country's largest swing state. She also covered the primary and multiple debates from New Hampshire. Additionally, she produced and anchored a weekly Sunday morning show at WFLA-TV.
McCowan joined the WABC-TV/ABC7 New York in December 2016. Since then, she has been a part of the Eyewitness News team as a reporter.

McCowan grew up in Alpharetta, Georgia. She graduated with a double major in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science from the University of Alabama in 2006.

McCowan is married to her husband, Halton Peters. The pair exchanged wedding vows on 17 September 2016 at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History in Atlanta, Georgia. The wedding was an intimate ceremony attended by their family and friends.
The bride wore a strapless white gown with a ruffled bottom and train. She paired the wedding dress with a mid length veil and white/ light pink roses. On the other hand, the groom donned a grey suit paired with a white shirt and light pink bow tie.
After the wedding ceremony, the newlywed couple went on a honeymoon in Bali, Indonesia. McCowan wished her husband their first anniversary through an Instagram post in 2017.
