Co-founder of ASAP Mob

In 2006, Bari, along with ASAP Yams, ASAP Kham, and ASAP Illz, co-founded the rap collective ASAP Mob. The label ASAP stands for “Always Strive And Prosper.” While Bari does not rap, he performs creative duties and collaborates with others for the group’s good. Some of their upcoming events include Life is Beautiful in Las Vegas, Nevada (19 October 2021), The Governors Ball Music Festival 2021 in New York (25 October 2021), and Super Bock Super Rock Sesimbra, Portugal.

Co-founder of VLONE

In 2011, Kamoni Chandler, also known as ASAP K, created the streetwear company VLONE after the success of ASAP Mob. Bari collaborated with Chandler on the brand after serving as the head of ASAP Rocky’s merchandise throughout his tours.

Later, Chandler quit the company after a dispute, and Bari took charge of VLONE. Bari enlisted the help of Edison Chen of CLOT, who is in charge of the label’s design. In an interview with Mass Appeal, he said that he gained a lot of influence when living in Harlem by trying on and stealing clothes with his pals and touching the fibers of high-end brands.

VLONE released its debut collection in 2014. In 2017, VLONE formed a partnership with Nike, and in June of the same year, VLONE debuted on the runway at the 2017 Paris Fashion Week. However, according to June 2017 reports from GQ, Nike broke all ties with VLONE after the sexual assault allegations.

The company has also collaborated with renowned rappers like Kanye West. In addition, VLONE began cooperating with other artists in 2020, releasing products for Juice WRLD, NBA Youngboy, The Weeknd, and others.

Sexual Assault Charges

On 12 July 2017, a video surfaced alleging Bari’s sexual misconduct with an unidentified woman. In the video, Bari was seen shouting, “You f**ked my assistant. Now, you’re going to suck my d*ck,” to an unidentified naked lady in bed as he slapped her in the buttocks. The lady in the video yelled, “Stop it, Bari, honestly stop.”

After the video was released, Bari claimed the video was “fake” on Twitter but then clarified that it was between “friends” and that they had “resolved this issue amicably among all parties as adults.” Following the video’s release, a Nike official stated that the VLONE partnership with Bari had been canceled. On the other hand, Bari’s other collaborator, Kanye West, defended Bari after the accusations. West stated, “Bari challenged me when no one else did and, when he got in trouble, I was scared to say he was my friend just like I did with xxx and that was some pu**y s**t on my part. Jedis never let perception and cancel culture get between them.”

Bari was sued for over $1 million in November 2017 by the woman who claimed he sexually abused her. She had refused him days before after he asked, “Can I f**k the s**t out of you?” According to the woman, Bari allegedly burst into a room where she was resting.

She recounted Bari grabbed blankets from her and exposed her naked body to about ten other males who were affiliated to ASAP Mob and followed her into a restroom after she said “no.” She was allegedly tossed out of her room in her underwear, prompting the hotel manager to contact the cops, who then deleted the video from her phone.

A year later, on 18 May 2018, Bari was detained at Heathrow Airport in London on allegations of sexual assault in connection with the incident. He was then pled guilty to the 2017 sexual assault in London on 3 January 2019. According to Rolling Stone, Bari agreed to pay a $5000 fine, $3500 to the lady and was subject to a restraining order that stopped him from contacting the victim, whom he sued for defamation and civil extortion in August 2018.
