Andrea Navedo is an American TV and Film actress with direction and production credits. Moreover, she has mainly gained fame as Xiomara Villanueva from her long-running show on The CW channel, Jane the Virgin (2014-2019).

She initially began her acting career with a child role in a stage play. However, she could not continue with it as her family could not afford to pay for her acting classes. At the age of 18, she landed her debut TV role as Linda Soto on the ABC soap opera, One Life To Live. From 1995 to 1997, she appeared in around 22 episodes. Moreover, her highly praised stint in her debut earned her several famous roles on TV. She was cast as Theresa Sandoval in the CBS series Guiding Light (1999-2000). It followed her recurring appearance as Detective Ana in the NBC show Law & Order (2001-2004).

Navedo's other notable acting credits include How To Make It in America (2011 TV series), Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2013 TV series), Superfast! (2015 film), Elena of Avalor (2017-2020 TV series), etc. Lately, she appeared in a recurring role as Valerie in the ABC family drama A Million Little Things (2021).

Navedo was born to her single mother (name unknown) on 10 October 1977, New York, USA. She holds an American Nationality and is of Puerto Rican ethnicity. For formal education, she attended DeWitt Clinton High School in 1988. Upon graduating, she joined the State University of New York (SUNY) at Old Westbury and earned her bachelor's degree in Communication and Creative Arts in 1998.

Navedo grew up in a Latino-American family with her mother and her grandmother. Her grandmother taught her to speak Spanish from when she was only 11 years old. Although Navedo has not disclosed the bio on her granny or parents. But she has added a picture of her on her Instagram suggesting that her grandmother is 98 years old as of now.

'Jane The Virgin'

Jane The Virgin is an American comedy-drama series created by Jennie Snyder Urman. The show launched its first episode on 13 October 2014 on The CW. After airing a total of 100 episodes over five seasons, the show finally came to an end on 31 July 2019.

Navedo joined the TV series in 2014 from its 1st season itself. She made her appearances in 99 episodes of the show (2014-2019). She played the title character's mother, Xiomara Villanueva. Xiomara is a dance instructor and desires to be a singer. While other titular characters include, Gina Rodriguez, Joe Locicero, Justin Baldoni, Yegen Grobglas, and Elias Janssen, among others.  

For her portrayal of her mother's character in the show, she received the 'Imagen Award' for the 'Best Supporting Actress' role in 2016. However, in an interview with the vanity, she told that multiple times while acting on Jane The Virgin she wanted to quit acting and pursue something else, because of her infamous status. But even after taking a break, she somehow came back to acting. 

Husband

Navedo married her husband in 2000. She has not shared any information regarding her husband in public. However, on 19 December 2014, she added a picture of the pair on her Twitter account @Andreanavedo from her dating days. She captioned it as "My husband visited me on the set of How To Make It In America 4 years ago."

Reportedly, the couple often gets spotted around Jersey beach on their holidays with their kids. They are parents to two children, a daughter Ava and a son Nico.
