Joe LoCicero is an American actor who began his professional acting career in 2013. He is known for his appearances in The CW’s hit satirical comedy telenovela Jane the Virgin and the CBS romantic drama series The Bold and the Beautiful. He is also known for his appearances in films like Cop Chronicles: Loose Cannons: The Legend of the Haj-Mirage (2018), Miss Bala (2019), and Someone Great (2019). 

In May 2019, he married Gina Rodriguez, the actress famous for her leading role as Jane Villanueva on Jane the Virgin.

Early Bio

Joe LoCicero was born on 9 August 1986 in Long Island, New York. He was a professional soccer player at one point in his life. Later, he worked as a model before beginning his career in acting.

Acting Career

LoCicero began his professional acting career in Jeff Compton’s short film Hector: Lost Souls with Switchblades in 2013. He played the role of Goon 1 in the short film co-written by Compton and Robert Strickland. The short film premiered on 8 November 2013 at Santa Barbara Outrageous Film Festival. The same year, he guest-starred in one episode titled ‘A New Kind of Monster’ of the Investigation Discovery crime documentary series A Crime to Remember, portraying the role of Sheriff’s Deputy. 

In 2014, he appeared as MMA Fighter in three episodes of the DirecTV series Kingdom. The same year, he played the role of Fitz in Tyler Jolley’s comedy short film Karaoke the Movie, co-written by Sara Lukasiewicz and Brady Morphy. He then portrayed the role of Chad in Tiffany Aleman’s comedy short film Crossword Puzzle Brahs in 2015. He also played the role of Axyl Wieland in the 2018 short comedy film Karate City, co-written by Jarrett Sleeper and Zeke Rodrigues Thomas. 

‘Jane the Virgin’

Between 2016 and 2019, LoCicero appeared in five episodes of The CW’s hit satirical comedy telenovela Jane the Virgin, alongside his future wife, Gina Rodriguez. In the hit telenovela, he portrayed different roles such as Alien Soldier Man, Blooki, Masked Figure, Prince Charming, and Don Quixote stripper. 

‘The Bold and the Beautiful’

In 2019, he started appearing in a recurring role of Vincent Walker in the CBS long-running romantic drama series The Bold and the Beautiful. He appeared in 49 episodes of the series until his character died in a car accident. The last episode he appeared on the series was aired on 12 July 2021. The series was co-created by William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell. It premiered back on 23 March 1987 and has aired over 8600 episodes as of August 2021. 

Films

LoCicero made his big-screen debut as Keto in the 2016 action comedy film Spaghettiman, in which he also served as a fight choreographer. The film was directed by Mark Potts and co-written by Potts, Winston Carter, and Benjamin Crutcher. The same year, he appeared in the role of Donnie in the horror sci-fi film Welcome to Willits, directed by Trevor Ryan and written by Tim Ryan. 

Two years later, he co-wrote and also appeared in the role of McGraw in the 2018 action-comedy film Cop Chronicles: Loose Cannons: The Legend of the Haj-Mirage. In 2019, he portrayed the role of Party Guy in the action thriller film Miss Bala, directed by Catherine Hardwicke and written by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer. It was the remake of the 2011 Mexican film of the same title. LoCicero later appeared as Paul in Jennifer Kaytin Robinson’s romantic comedy film Someone Great. 

Theater

In addition to his career in television and film, LoCicero had also performed in several theater plays. In 2016, he performed the lead role in the production of Pericles at the Richard Goad Theatre in Long Beach, California. His other theater credits include the leading roles in Sherlock Holmes Radio PlaysWar of the Worlds, and Rumors. He also performed in supporting roles in plays like Henry V and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. 

Martial Arts

Aside from his acting career, LoCicero is also a martial artist. He became the California State Middleweight amateur Muay Thai Champion in 2018.

Upcoming Projects

LoCicero will appear in the role of Chad in Mathew Spencer’s upcoming comedy short film I Lost My Phone, which has completed its production. He will also be seen in the role of Doug in Elizabeth Blake-Thomas’ upcoming romantic short film Just Swipe. The film is currently in its post-production phase. 

Wife

LoCicero first met Gina Rodriguez on the set of Jane the Virgin in 2016 when he had a guest-starring role of Don Quixote stripper for the ‘Chapter Thirty-Nine’ episode of the series. Six months later, they ran into each other at the gym and soon began dating. Rodriguez shared their photo on Instagram on Christmas 2016. Shortly after that, the pair made their first public appearance together at the SAG Awards in January 2017. After dating for around two years, they got engaged in July 2018 and eventually exchanged their wedding vows on 4 May 2019.
