Who is Amaka Ubaka?
Amaka Ubaka is an American reporter who started her career as a General Assignment Reporter for the KRCR AB7 news team in Redding, California, in August 2010. She relocated to Omaha, Nebraska, and became a WOWT NBC 6 News team member as a General Assignment Reporter in December 2011.
Subsequently, She left Nebraska in January 2013 to work for WKMG CBS 6 in Orlando, Florida. There she covered several national stories, including a mother of three accused of driving her children into the Atlantic, the execution of former UCF student/journalist Steven Sotloff by ISIS, and a man swallowed up by a sinkhole. After working for more than two years in Orlando, she left the station in 2015 and joined 7 News in May 2016.

Ubaka volunteers as an emcee for charity events such as YWCA Cambridge, International Institute of New England, Project Hope, and The One Mission Buzz Off, Rosie's Place, the Igbo Organization of New England, and BMA TenPoint. In addition, she is also part of the National Association of Black Journalists. Moreover, Ubaka took part in events for Cradles to Crayons as their emcee and The Un-Gala live virtual event, where supporters come together and volunteer to make a difference. The event raised over $50,000 in just one day.
Furthermore, she also emceed the BMA Ten Point Virtual Awards Gala from The Charles Street AME Church in Roxbury for the second year in a row. With the assistance of 100 community and faith-based organizations, the non-profit serves over 10,000 low-income children, youth, and families in Boston neighborhoods each year. In addition, the organization contributes to the funding of food pantries and other programs.
