Who is Alicia Acuna?
Alicia Acuna Boyd, born and raised in Arizona, went to Tuscon High Magnet School. She graduated in 1988 and joined Arizona University in 1989, completing her BA in Broadcast Journalism in 1993.
Subsequently, in 1995 she joined KSEE-TV 24 as an assignment editor. She continued to anchor the 5 p.m. broadcast. She also worked as a weekend anchor/reporter for KGET-TV (NBC) in Bakersfield, California, anchoring the 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts.
Then in 1997, she became the 'Runner-UP' in the 'APTRA Reporter of the Year', which won her a fellowship program at CBS News national headquarters. She left KSEE-TV 24 and joined CBS.
As a CBS reporter, she covered the aftermath of the terrible May 2013 EF5 tornado, followed by the Ebola outbreak, the opioid epidemic, wildfires in the Western United States, and the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.

Husband and Fighting Cancer
Acuna married Brian Daniel Boyd in 2004. Unfortunately, in 2009 her husband was diagnosed with cancer. Then, in 2022 she posted on her Instagram that he had been free of the disease for 13 years.
"Our @briandboyd is 13 YEARS CANCER FREE. This last year brought new and different challenges to our family, for sure. And with each one, the grounded nature in which he applied his hand brought us all back to Earth," she confessed.
In addition to that, she also talked about other ailments the family faced during the pandemic. "Not only did cancer suck, all those years ago, it traveled with two insidious diseases that also visited his body and our home."
Acuna concluded by being grateful that her husband and family endured the hardships together. "My dear husband, and partner in everything, fought and walked through the pain. Step by step, day by day, breath by breath. He is here, and we are all so grateful. Love you so very much."
Mother to Five Children
Acuna gave birth to their first child, Sofia, in 2004 and their second child, Mario, in 2006. In addition, she is also the mother of three step-sons from Brian's previous marriages, Noah, Daniel, and Adian.
