Early Life and Education

Her father, Wayne Nix, was a high school and college football coach when she was a child. As a result, she says she grew up spending time at a stadium on a Friday night as a child.

Later, Nix served as a cheerleader while attending Socastee High School. She was also a part of the high school track team. In 1996, she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in French and Economics from Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. While at college, she served as a captain of the golf team for two years. She also served as the president of the Campus Union during her senior year. 

In 1997, she obtained a master’s degree in Sports Management from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. 

Career

Nix kicked off her television sports journalism career in 1999 at ABC/CW-affiliated television station WPDE-TV in Myrtle Beach-Florence, South Carolina. She spent a couple of years at WPDE-TV, covering news, NASCAR, and high school sports. In 2001, she joined New England Sports Network (NESN) as a reporter and anchor. From 2002 to 2003, she served as a national sports reporter for FOXSports and as a reporter and anchor for FOXSports News England. After that, she served as a sports anchor and reporter at WHDH-TV in Boston, Massachusetts, from 2003 to 2006.

In August 2006, ESPN hired Nix as a reporter and host to cover college football, the NFL, and golf. She also contributed to ESPN’s daily sports news program, SportsCenter, and the network’s pregame show College GameDay

Furthermore, she hosted College Football Live and college football Saturdays on ESPN2. From 2014 to 2016, she co-hosted a pregame television program Sunday NFL Countdown with Chris Berman for three seasons. Nix then spent the following three years as the host of NFL Live, anchoring the weekday pro football show from the studio and on-site at major NFL events, including Super Bowl, NFL Draft, and Scouting Combine. Then, in September 2020, she became the host of two ESPN showsNFL Rewind and College Football Live.

After separating from her ex-husband Cherington, Nix started dating Joseph Ritchie, a.k.a. Joe Ritchie. The couple got married on 10 December 2011.

In January 2015, she wished him his birthday through a tweet. She posted her photos with her two daughters and captioned, “Happy Birthday Joe Ritchie! We love you! #RitchieFamily.” She referenced her husband occasionally on her Twitter posts, but she did not reveal the identity of her husband.
