Who is Tom Thibodeau?
Tom Thibodeau took birth as Thomas Joseph Thibodeau Jr. on 17 January 1958. He was born and raised in New Britain, Connecticut. He attended the New Britain Public High School, where he started playing basketball. Then later, he began playing college basketball at Salem State College from 1977 to 1981. Moreover, in the 1980-1981 season, Thibodeau served as the college team captain and led them to their first NCAA tournament.
Thibodeau studied science at his Bachelor's level and later did his master's in counseling from Salem State University. Immediately after graduation, in 1981, he began his coaching career as an assistant basketball coach for the same college. And, after just three years, he became the head coach of Salem State at just the age of 25. Since then, Thibodeau has represented several University basketball teams and NBA teams.
NBA Coaching
Thibodeau began coaching an NBA team in 1989 as an assistant coach of Minnesota Timberwolves. He represented them until the 1991-1992 season and moved to San Antonio Spurs in 1992. Simultaneously he served as an assistant coach for the Philadelphia 76ers from 1994 to 1996, New York Knicks from 1996 to 2004, Houston Rockets (2004-2007), and Boston Celtics (2007-2010).
In 2010, Thibodeau landed his first NBA head coach job with the Chicago Bulls. He led the team from 2010 to 2015. Thibodeau became the fastest coach to lead the team to 100 career wins during his time there. He did it in just 130 games and broke the record previously set by Avery Johnson with 131 games. Moreover, in 2011, Tom Thibodeau won the NBA' Coach of the Year' award. Whereas the Chicago Bulls let go of him on 28 May 2015.
