Ragnarok (2020-2021) is a Norwegian fantasy television drama based on Norse mythology. Launched on Netflix, this series is the third Norwegian series to be distributed on the OTT (Over The Top) platform.
Ragnarok is based on the fictional narrative of a Norwegian village in Edda, Hordaland. The village is beset by climatic changes and industrial emissions produced by the factories owned by the local Jutul family, the fifth wealthiest kin in Norway. Magne (David Stakston) challenges the Jutul family and begins the crusade against people who obstruct the natural resistance of earth in the series.

“It’s strange to think about the fact that the small clip I recorded is the reason I got the part,” Eggesbø said in a 2020 interview with Cinema. In the same interaction, she also stated that the creation of Ragnarok caused a sizeable amount of resources, personnel, and logistics. It was a lavish affair. There were several props, and the set designs were one-of-a-kind. In addition, everything was custom-built for the show.
‘Ragnarok’ Season 2
Season 2 of Ragnarok was released on 27 May 2021. The series shifted its focus from character development or growth towards interpreting Norse mythology in the second season.
Eggesbø resumed her role as Saxa in season 2. Saxa had some intimate scenes with Magne in the second season of Ragnarok. In fact, this season revealed Saxa had feelings for Magne. However, Saxa comes from a family whose ideology and practice Magne opposed. So, season 2 had a lot to show on their relationship.
Ragnarok soared to the top of Netflix’s TV programs list a day after its premiere on 27 May 2021 in the United States and was ranked second in the United Kingdom’s Top TV Shows. With the increasing popularity of this series, fans are eagerly expecting the third season. Nonetheless, the dates for the third season have not been confirmed or announced yet.
