Tania Tare is a professional golfer and trick shot artist. Born and raised in New Zealand, she developed a strong passion for sports from a very young age. She was only four years old when she started playing tennis competitively. She then started learning the fundamental skills of golf at the age of 14. She then played golf as a student-athlete. Her achievements in golf earned her a scholarship to study and play golf at Florida International University in Florida, the United States. After completing her college golf career, she began her career as a professional golfer in 2014. Later, she gained immense popularity as a trick shot artist after her captivative trick shot videos went viral.
Early Life and Education
Tare was born on 19 December 1988 in Auckland, New Zealand, to Peter Aitken and Tuuvu Tare. After graduating from Ponsonby Intermediate in 2001, she attended Auckland Girls Grammar School in Auckland, New Zealand, from where she completed NCEA Level 3 in 2006. Later, she joined Florida International University (FIU) in 2009 and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing in 2013.
Getting into Sports
Growing up, Tare became fixated on tennis. By age four, she was playing the game. However, she stopped playing tennis at age 12 when she learned the skill of doing Tiger’s commercial trick shot.
Tare then hit a golf ball at age 14. When she went to the golf range for the first time, she was approached by a golf coach, who asked her to take golf lessons from him. The coach taught her the fundamentals of golf. She quickly improved and became hooked on it.
School and College Golf Career
In 2006, Tare won the ‘Blues Award’ for ‘Outstanding Achievement in Golf.’ She then played as a captain of the provincial team in the 2008/09 season, earning ten wins and securing one second-place finish. She was then named the ‘Auckland Golfer of the Year’ in 2008.
Tare then moved to the United States after getting a golf scholarship for FIU (Florida International University). As a freshman, Tare competed in 24 rounds scoring a stroke average of 77.25. She also had one top-10 finish when she placed seventh place in the USA Lady Jaguar Invitational. Later, she got her best two rounds of the year, shooting 71 on each of the first two days at the Pat Bradley Invitational.
During her sophomore year at FIU, she opened the season with a 14-over par performance at the Wolverine Invitational. Then, she shot 11-over, aided by a career-best three-under 69 on the final day. Her performance led her to finish in 12th place at the UC Fall Invitational. She also served as the captain of the Division 1 Women’s Golf Team at FIU.
Professional Career
After finishing her college sports career, Tare began her professional career as a golfer in January 2014. She played as a professional golfer at NZ Golf for six years and nine months until September 2020. From December 2015 to January 2017, she served as the head golf consultant at Study and Play USA, opening opportunities for young talented student-athletes to study and play college sports by providing scholarships. She became director of Peasant NZ in July 2016.

She played it in September 2017, and it also became one of her favorite golf tournaments as a player. Later, she also played in the Michigan PGA Women’s Open at Crystal Mountain Resort.
Additional Works
In September 2019, Tare signed on as a PING Brand Ambassador. She later promoted the brand as a social media influencer and also performed trick shots for PING at various events. In 2020, Tare co-founded a decentralized social media platform called Rebuzz. Also, she became a media relations specialist at Bonded Finance, a financial service focused on bonded smart instruments and exotic financial products.
