Sway gained popularity after co-hosting the nationally syndicated radio show, The Wake Up Show, as one-half of the duo Sway & King Tech. Early Life & Education 

Growing up in Oakland, California, Sway was interested in rapping from an early age. He completed his high school education at Oakland High School. As a teenager, he was a locally known rapper and B-Boy performing on San Francisco's Pier 39.

Sway teamed up with DJ King Tech upon graduating from high school, and the duo performed at various San Francisco Bay Area clubs.

Career 

In the beginning, King Tech and Sway performed extensively at clubs throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. After some time, they gained more popularity, which encouraged the pair to release their first album together. In 1990, the duo released their first album, Concrete Jungle.

In 1999, the duo released their second album, This or That, featuring a collaboration with artists like Pete Rock, Kool Keith, Eric B. & Rakim, and others. In addition, one song of the album titled 'The Anthem,' featured eight renowned artists, including Rza, Eminem, KRS-One, Xzibit, Pharaoh Monche, Chino XL, and Jayo Felony. 

After their popularity with the album This or That, the duo took some time before releasing a new album. 

After six years, in 2005, they released a new album, Back 2 Basics. During that time, Tech and Sway had created their record label, Bolo Entertainment. As a result, the album was published under the same label and distributed by Universal Music. The duo collaborated with artists like Tracy lane, Royce Da 5'9, Chino XL, and others. 

Television

MTV approached Sway in 2000 and offered him a position as a correspondent. He accepted, eventually becoming a frequent reporter for the network's music video series and news specials, including Total Request Live and the hip-hop music video show Direct Effect.

King Tech and The Wake Up Show joined Sway in his relocation because MTV's studios are in New York City. The radio program became even more successful because of Sway's appearance on MTV. As a result, a TV version of the show aired on MTV for a limited period in January 2004. Sway and Tech also have a successful mixtape series that features freestyles from the broadcast. However, he did not renew his contract with MTV in September 2005. 

He appeared as a guest star on the MTV sketch comedy show Short Circuit in the year 2007. 

Producer

In addition, he has served as an executive producer of five episodes of All that Matters that aired in 2015. Likewise, he produced TV shows like Behind the Movie: Exploring Chicago with the Cast of Barbershop - The Next Cut in 2015 and One shot in 2016.
