Before launching her firm, Pomboy worked as a managing director at an independent economic research firm ISI Group from 1991 to 2002. She provided timely financial insight and analysis to the country's most sophisticated and largest institutions.
Then, she began her career at Cyrus J. Lawrence LLC's investment management company after earning a bachelor's degree in 1990.

Early Life and Education
Born in 1968, Pomboy graduated from Darien High School in 1986. She then received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Art History from Dartmouth College in 1990.
In addition to her studies, she once competed as captain of the Tae Kwon Do team.

In February 2002, Pomboy founded MacroMavens, a boutique research firm that provides macroeconomic research and commentary to the institutional investment community.

Speaking about the American economy with The New York Times in 2016, Pomboy opined the optimists on Wall Street were in for another round of disappointment. "I don't think there will be a second-half rebound. Growth will be the same as in the first half of the year or even weaker. We have a monster overhang from inventories, and consumer spending will continue to disappoint. I'm not saying they will fall out of bed. I just see the status quo — a sideways to downward churn, with a squeeze on discretionary spending. People will cut back further in discretionary spending with the huge increase in premiums for health insurance coming later this year and next year."

Pomboy has kept most of her personal life under the wraps. Nevertheless, she lives in New York City and spends her spare time in the mountains of Colorado. In addition, Pomboy is an avid hiker and telemark skier.
