Stefania LaVie Owen is an aspiring New Zealand-American actress. She has mainly gained fame for her role as Melanie in the 2020 movie Paper Spiders. Moreover, for her portrayal of Melanie's character, she won the 'Boston Film Festival Award' for 'Best Ensemble Cast' in 2020.

Owen began her film career in 2009 with the supernatural drama film, The Lovely Bones. She portrayed the childhood character Flora Hernandez. Since then, she has acted in 17 TV series and movies. Her debut TV appearance was as Puddle Kadubic in the TV series Running Wilde. She notably appeared in a total of 13 episodes from 2010 to 2011.

Owen was born in Miami, Florida, USA, on 15 December 1997. She took birth to her New Zealander father and American mother. At the age of four, Owen moved to New Zealand with her family and settled there in a village named Pauatahanui. Moreover, she also has two sisters as her siblings, who are both actresses.

Her elder sister Carly is known for her roles in Bridge to Terabithia (2007 Movie), Graffito (2014 Movie), etc. Similarly, her younger sister Lolo has gained recognition for her appearances in movies like The Cure (2014) and Krampus (2015).

Owen talked about landing her first movie role during an interview with 1988 Magazine in 2019. She mentioned in the interview that she did not initially think of becoming an actress. However, one of her friends persuaded her for it, and her parents signed up for one of the local agencies in Wellington. At first, Owen thought that she would be doing only commercials. But then, she auditioned for a movie and successfully landed it. After that, her career began to spiral.
