Sonny Valicenti is a Los Angeles-based television and film actor and director. He most recently appeared as Matt Cohler in the TV series Super Pumped (2022).

Who is Sonny Valicenti?

Sonny Valicenti is a multi-disciplinary personality in the entertainment industry. He is an actor, director, producer, writer, also holding a few credits as a video editor. 

Valicenti made his TV debut in 2008 with a guest role of Timothy 'Timmy' Nolan in the TV series Raising the Bar. Two years later, in 2010, he appeared as Bystander in the short film Night Home which followed his appearance as Manny in the 2013 TV series In Reality.

After several minor role appearances in TV series and short films, Valicenti landed his first movie role in 2016. He appeared as Dean in the Christmas comedy movie Office Christmas Party. Moreover, he mainly reflects among his fans as the serial killer character from the TV series Mind Hunter (2017-2019).

Similarly, his other notable works include Platonic (2014-2017 TV series), The Conway Curve (2017 Movie), How To Deter A Robber (2020 Movie), Super Pumped (2022 TV series), among others.

Aside from his on-screen career, Valicenti has appeared in the off-Broadway performances of Romeo and Juliet, Henry V, and The Spy. Abacus, The Children for the Theatre, and The Firebird with the LA Philharmonic are among his regional credits.

Age, Birthday, and Early Bio

Sonny Valicenti has kept all details of his early life, including his birthdate and parents' information, a secret. However, he is an Illinois native and was born in Barrington.

He first completed his high school education at a local high school in Barrington. Later, he enrolled in the California Institute of Arts and graduated with a bachelor's degree in fine arts.

'Mind Hunter'

The Netflix psychological crime drama Mind Hunter, premiered worldwide on 13 October 2017. Starring actors Jonathan Groff, Anna Torv, and Holt McCallany in leading roles, it follows a storyline where FBI officials interview selected serial killers to understand criminal psychology.

Mind Hunter introduced Valicenti in the second episode of the first season. Since then, he appeared as an ADT Serviceman in 15 episodes through the series' two seasons run until August 2019. 

His character in the series is a minor but crucial antagonist in the series. He is a fictionalized version of real-life serial murderer Dennis Rader, also known as the "BTK (Bind, Torture, Kill) Killer," who terrorized the Wichita, Kansas, region for 15 years.  

In August 2019, he talked about the challenges he faced in portraying the character in an interview with meaww.com. He said, "I have to play what I know. I have to approach this work from a developmental psychology perspective. The most discomfort came from asking the question: How am I similar to him?"

'Super Pumped'

Super Pumped is an ongoing anthology drama series on the American TV channel Showtime. It began airing on 27 February 2022.

This series is an adaptation of Mike Isaac's book of the same title. Its storyline follows actor Joseph Gordon Levitt's character Travis Kalanick, a CEO of the Uber company in Silicon Valley. 

Super Pumped depicts Travis's highs and lows in making his company the most successful in Silicon Valley.

Valicenti portrays the character Matt Cohler, the company's benchmark partner. His character appears in the series on the first three episodes. The series is set to have seven episodes in its seven weeks run through 10 April 2022. 

Moreover, it has already been renewed for a second season which will begin airing in 2023. The show production unit announced the renewal of the second season even before the first season premiered.
