He started his league career in 2011 after being selected by Seattle Sounders FC in the second round of the Major League Soccer SuperDraft on 13 January 2011, debuting on 19 March against the New York Red Bulls. He played for his high school and the San Diego Surf Soccer Club until 19. During when, he was named 'Western League Player of the Year,' 'CIF Player of the Year', and 'San Diego Union-Tribune All-County Player of the Year.' In addition, he took part in the Olympic Development Program and the Premier Development Program.
Further, Carrasco accepted a scholarship to the University of California, Berkeley in 2007. He scored 13 goals during his four years at UC Berkeley.
