The school educates 53,000 students in 101 schools in the York region. Additionally, she is fond of dancing, and her Instagram bio reveals that she also teaches dance.
Furthermore, McGillivray was a part of a reality TV series, Moving the McGillivrays (2016), in which she starred alongside her husband Scott and two daughters. The show was about the building and renovation works of their permanent house. Initially, she was hesitant about joining her husband on-screen as she didn't wish to have outsiders at her home. "She didn't need them but I did, and she appreciated how hard I worked to try and master the dance," he said and added, "Little did we know at the time that the video of our wedding dance would end up on YouTube and get hundreds of thousands of views!"
