His mother was Alma Elaine (née Donnelly), a bank clerk and nurse's aide, and his father, Donald Edmond Wahlberg, was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and delivery driver. Robert's father passed away in 2008, aged 77, and his mother died on 18 April 2021 at age 78 following a long battle with dementia.
