Riqui Puig is a Spanish national footballer. He was born Ricard Puig Marti in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, on 13 August 1999. He is 22 years old as of 2021.
Puig began his professional football career at FC Barcelona’s youth football academy, La Masia, in 2013, coming from UFB Jàbac Terrassa. He played in Terrassa from 2008 to 2013. After that, he represented Barcelona’s youth team for several years. Eventually, Puig played his first match with the Barcelona B team in February 2018. His debut match was against the Spanish club, Gimnastic Tarragona.
Then on 5 December 2018, Puig got selected for FC Barcelona’s first team for the first time. His debut match was against another Spanish football club, Cultural Leona, in Copa Del Rey. He got his chance on the field in the second half, and the team won with a 4-1 goal difference. Puig played his first La Liga Santander match on 13 April 2019 against Huesca after his first Copa Del Rey appearance. The game ended with a 0-0 draw.
On 1 July 2020, Puig signed a three-year contract with Barca’s first team. The agreement goes through 30 June 2023. Puig was given the number 12 shirt previously worn by Brazilian footballer Rafinha.

His father, Carlos Puig, is a former left-back of Terrassa Futbol Club, Terrassa, Barcelona. He has an older brother, Ton Puig.
Riqui Puig first visited Camp Nou when he was three years of age with his father. Ever since then, he has been an FC Barcelona fan.

Puig married his long-term girlfriend, Charlot Puig. They have known each other since their teenage years. They dated for a long time and finally exchanged wedding vows in 2019.
