Working at CNN for over two decades

Quest joined CNN in 2001 and quickly became the host of CNN's newly launched television program called Business Traveler in 2002. He eventually became the channel's foremost international business correspondent. He has covered a variety of major UK events, including the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011, Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee celebrations in 2012, the historic Brexit vote in 2016, and the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018.

Who is Richard Quest?

Richard Quest is a television anchor and non-practicing barrister born on 9 March 1962 in Liverpool, England. He later moved to Leeds, where he attended Roundhay School, Airedale, and Wharfedale College. Quest then graduated with a Law LLB Hons degree from the University of Leeds in 1983. 

Upon graduating, he moved to the United States and enrolled at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. While attending Vanderbilt, he cut his teeth on broadcasting by working for a student-run college radio station called WRVU. 

Quest was called to the Bar in 1985. The same year, he was hired as a trainee journalist at BBC. After serving as the trainee journalist from 1985 to 1987, he was promoted to the BBC financial unit reporter and network radio reporter in 1988. 

He quickly became the BBC Wall Street correspondent in 1989 for the network's North American business coverage. Quest served in that role for 12 years before being hired by CNN.

Quest joined CNN in 2001 and quickly became the host of CNN's newly launched television program called Business Traveler in 2002. He eventually became the channel's foremost international business correspondent.

As per his CNN bio, Quest has reported from the world's different major financial centers, including Wall Street, London, Tokyo, and Hong Kong. He has also regularly reported from G20 meetings. Each year, he also attends the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

In 2013, he received the UNWTO Lifetime Achievement Award from The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) for his contribution to the global tourism industry as a business journalist.

In addition to coverage of business issues, Quest has covered a wide range of stories, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the death of Yasser Arafat, and the death of Michael Jackson. 

He also has covered a variety of major UK events, including the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011, Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee celebrations in 2012, the historic Brexit vote in 2016, and the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018.

In 2018, he started hosting Quest's World of Wonder on CNN. He has also been CNN's airline and aviation correspondent. Additionally, he serves as CNN Business editor-at-large. He also frequently hosts the digital live financial show called Market Now.

'Quest Means Business'

In 2009, Quest started hosting a business program called Quest Means Business. He gives his expert analysis and commentary on the biggest business stories. Quest Means Business airs weekdays at 3 pm ET / 8 pm BST on CNN International. 

Partner

An openly gay Quest is married to his partner Chris Pepper. In an Instagram post dated 12 October 2020, he shared a picture of himself with his partner Pepper, captioning, "We said 'I Do' at the weekend. Happiest day of our lives."

The pair had planned to get married earlier that year in March in London, but they had to postpone their marriage because of difficulties created by the COVID-19 pandemic, as per Quest's Instagram post from 21 March 2020. 

Quest and his partner also attended a pride event in 2018.
