Who Is Raegan Revord?

Early Life

Born on 3 January 2008, Raegan Revord is originally from San Diego, California. She realized she wanted to be in front of the camera from a young age. As a result, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her acting dreams.

Her parents had made several recordings of her fully dressed up and putting on plays and concerts for them. Finally, Revord’s mom, Holly’s friend, connected her to an owner of an agency and started representing her professionally. “I asked my parents how I could do TV shows and movies, so they knew then that I was serious and they got me a manager,” she said.

Soon after that, the actress appeared in print advertisements and commercials. She also got two years of training at the Young Actor’s Space in Los Angeles. Later, in 2014, Revord made her professional acting debut in a short film, Tortoise, featuring American actor David Arquette. She was just six years old when the short movie came out.

Career (Movies and TV Shows)

Eventually, the teenage performer made her on-screen appearance in the sixth season of ABC sitcom Modern Family. She featured in the episode ‘Won’t You Be Our Neighbor’ as Megan in 2014. The role of Megan helped her to achieve prominent fame. In 2016, she reprised the character in an episode titled ‘The Storm’ in season 7 of Modern Family.

In 2015, she starred as Bob Odenkirk’s daughter on With Bob & David. In the same year, she also appeared in a short film titled Jia. The following year, Revord featured in an episode of the Netflix series Grace and Frankie. In 2017, she starred as Melinda in TV Land’s hit sitcom Teachers.

Revord made her feature film debut in John R. Leonetti’s supernatural horror Wish Upon, starring Joey King and Ryan Phillippe, in the role of Young Clare in 2017. The actress also landed several advertisements, including one for Enterprise Rent-A-Car with Joel McHale.

‘Young Sheldon’

Revord got her breakthrough role in March 2017 after she was cast as ‘Missy Cooper’ in The Big Bang Theory spin-off Young Sheldon. She plays the role of Sheldon Cooper’s twin sister. Her character is described as providing much-needed sass to the plot while also serving as the ideal foil to her academically talented twin brother, Sheldon.

She was nominated for a 2018 Emmy Awards as Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a TV series for her sassy twin character. She continues to reprise the role since 2017. The sitcom is consistently one of the prime time’s most successful comedies, with just under 14 million viewers tuning in for the second season finale. The show was renewed for a third and fourth season at the same time because of its enormous success.

Similarly, CBS renewed the show for a fifth, sixth, and seventh season in March 2021. The fifth season of Young Sheldon will premiere on 7 October 2021. The San Diego native learned her Texan accent by watching Laurie Metcalf on The Big Bang Theory, who plays an older version of her character’s mother.

Revord said that the best part about portraying the 80s character is being able to experience living in a different time and place. She also feels like she got to relive the young life of her mom and dad as they grew up in the south. However, she is not a fan of the clothes from the 80s, “everything is so tight and itchy,” she said in the interview with A Book Of.

Career as a Writer

Apart from her acting credits, Revord is also a writer who is currently working on a children’s book called ‘My Story as a Gold Nugget’ and a TV script she is proposing to different studios.

In her interview with A Book Of, she revealed that her writing is going well. She explained she had written an animated TV pilot pitch for it. Also, she said animation is an even longer process than writing itself. “I started writing Goldie when I was about 9, so she’s been with me for a very long time. I’m so ready to release her to the world,” she stated.

She’s also a voracious reader who recently launched her book club, #ReadingWithRaegan, on Instagram, where she shares her monthly book recommendations with her followers.
