Radames Pera is best known for his role as Grasshopper, the student Kwai Chang Caine in the 1972–1975 television series Kung Fu.
Radames Pera was born in 1960 in New York City, to Eugino Pera and Louise Vnnichenko. He moved to Hollywood with his mother when he was 3 years old, who was pursuing her career in acting. His mother is of Russian origin.
Pera attended the Los Angeles City College from 1977 to 1978 and completed Advanced Film Courses, Cinematography, and Film/ Video Production. According to his LinkedIn, between 1986 and 2021, Pera learned subjects such as Philosophy, Physics, and Psychology from Hard Knock University.
Pera began to work in the show business at the young age of eight. He was cast as Stavros in the movie A Dream of Kings in 1969. It helped him gain popularity and earn different roles throughout the 70s and 80s. In 1972, he played the role of Grasshopper in the series Kung Fu. Pera was also seen in the series Little House on the Prairie, in which he played the role of writer John Sanderson Edwards Jr. The widely popular show ran from 1974 to 1983.
In 1980, Pera appeared in the British feature film Very Like a Whale. In 1984, he appeared as Nazi vigilante youth-gang leader in the 1984 television show, The New Mike Hammer, which was one of his last major roles in the TV industry. His last role in the feature film was Sgt. Stepan Gorsky in the 1985 movie Red Dawn. He starred alongside Charlie Sheen, Patrick Swayze, and Lea Thompson.
