Phil Dalhausser is an American former beach volleyball player. He won the Olympic gold medal for beach volleyball in the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Who is Phil Dalhausser?

Philip Peter Dalhausser, also known as Phil Dalhausser, is a retired beach volleyball player. He has gained worldwide recognition as the Olympic gold medalist alongside his volleyball partner Todd Rogers in 2008.

Dalhausser began playing volleyball during his senior year at Mainland High School and continued playing through his college years at the University of Central Florida. In college, he received several awards, including the prestigious 'William G. Morgan Award' for standing out as the best volleyball player. Moreover, he earned the title of the 'Most Valuable Player.'

Upon graduating college, he worked different jobs in Florida before pursuing a career in volleyball. He initially collaborated with Nick Lucena, a volleyball olympian from Fort Lauderdale. He played alongside him during multiple tours and eventually teamed up with Todd Rogers in 2006. At that time, Todd Rogers had already gained over 11 years of experience in beach volleyball. Thus, Dalhausser and Rogers played together and coached to become the world's best beach volleyball duo.

In 2007, Dalhausser and his partner Rogers became the first American team ever to win the Beach Volleyball World Championship organized in Gstaad, Switzerland. Shortly after that, in 2008, they represented the USA in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and brought home the Olympic Gold Medal. In the match for the gold medal, the Dalhausser-Rogers duo defeated the Brazilian pair Fábio Luiz and Marcio Araujo.

After failing to defend the gold medal in the 2012 London Olympics, Phil teamed up with the 2008 and 2012 Olympian Sean Rosenthal in 2013. The pair have won six FIVB events (Federation Internationale de Volleyball), three each in 2013 and 2014. It is the most by any beach volleyball pair in the world. The duo split in 2015, and Dalhausser teamed up with his former partner Nick Lucena. They appeared together in the 2016 Brazil Olympics and 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where they finished fifth and ninth, respectively.

Finally, four times Olympian Phil Dalhausser quit his professional career in August 2021. He wants to focus on his family and spend more time with his two kids and wife.
