Otmara Marrero is a renowned American television and movie actress. Her fame is primarily credited to her appearance as Izzy Morales on the TV series StartUp (2016-2018).

Who is Otmara Marrero?

Otmara Marrero is best known for her lead roles in several TV series and movies since her screen debut in 2015.

Marrero initially began her entertainment career as a ballerina. She is a trained ballet dancer with over 16 years of training. However, several injuries saw her switch from a professional ballerina to a professional actress. 

Marrero dabbled into an acting career with a minor part as Alicia in the 2015 TV movie Instant Gratification. That same year, the actress had guest roles in TV series like Ballers and Graceland. 

She finally got a chance to experience significantly high screen time as Paloma Calvin in the 2016 TV movie My Daughter’s Dilemma. It followed her career’s big break in the TV series StartUp as her first lead character, Izzy Morales. 

Marrero’s first leading role on the big screen was Karen’s role in the 2019 romantic drama movie Clementine. She starred alongside Sonya Walger, Will Brittain, and Sydney Sweeney in the leading roles. 

Her other notable acting credits include New York Undercover (20198 TV movie), Connecting... (2020 TV series), and Launchpad (2021 TV series). Furthermore, she has at least two upcoming works, including Florida Man and Who Am I? These series are currently in the post-production phase and are set to release in 2022.

Marrero holds American nationality and belongs to the Cuban-American ethnicity. She was born as one of the four children in the family.

Father

Marrero’s biological father left her when she was only nine years old. Later, her mother married again, and her stepfather raised her.

On 22 June 2020, she shared a picture of her childhood self with her biological dad on her Instagram. She also shared a photo featuring her stepfather in the same Instagram post. Marrero mentioned her biological dad as the person who made her and her step-dad the one who helped her grow. 

‘Startup’

The American streaming platform, Crackle first aired the drama series StartUp on 6 September 2016. In this series, she played the tech genius Izzy Morales, who creates a digital currency. 

Marrero starred in the leading role alongside other Hollywood stars like Martin Freeman, Adam Brody, Addison Timlin, and Edi Gathegi. The series had three seasons with ten episodes each, and Marrero has appeared in all 30 of them.

Boyfriend/Husband

Marrero has mostly kept the details of her personal life a secret. Her social media handles do not feature any pictures that can relate to her relationship status or married life. In addition, none of the authentic internet sites have yet published any news about her boyfriend, marriage, or husband.

With that said, Marrero has shared her past dating life in several of her interviews. According to her 2018 interview with Medium, she was in a mentally disturbing relationship during high school. She remained in that relationship for five years before calling it a quit. In her words,

“Unfortunately, I was in a somewhat mentally abusive relationship with a man I intended to spend the rest of my life with… five years later, I grew some balls and started from zero!”
