Who is Nick Merico?
Merico started his career as a child actor on the series Charlie's Angels. In 2014, he appeared as Daniel Miller in the film Every Witch Way: Spellbound. From 2014 to 2015, for three seasons, he played the role of Daniel Miller on the series version of the movie, Every Witch Way.
Subsequently, the series garnered him prominence in the acting field. But, he went on to take a break from acting and took a chance on his music career. He participated in the 17th season of the American Idol Miami audition, which premiered in 2019. His talent was well received by the judges and viewers, and eventually, Merico made it to the 'Hollywood Week' challenge of the show. But, unfortunately, he backed out before the performance, citing personal reasons.

Early Life
Merico was born as Nicolas Merico on 29 December 1995 in Argentina, to father Fredy, a coach to a travel soccer team, and mother, Cheryl.
Career
Merico began his career in Hollywood as a child actor. He first appeared as a minor character on the TV series Charlie's Angels in 2011. Next, he played the role of Daniel Miller in the 2014 movie Every Witch Way: Spellbound. Then, in 2015, he appeared as Antonio on the episode 'Haunted Temptation' of the series The Haunted Hathaways.
In addition to that, Merico continued the role of Daniel Miller on the Nickelodeon series Every Witch Way. He acted in three seasons of the series from 2014 to 2015. The series was about a teenage girl Emma who finds out that she is a witch as she moves to another town with her family. There she falls in love with Daniel and tries to hide her powers from him.
Following the series, Merico took a break from acting and returned in 2018 as Jorge in the movie Trico Tri Happy Halloween. Then in 2019, he played the role of J.C. in the short movie First Timers.
'American Idol'
Merico first contested on the 17th season of American Idol, which was premiered in 2018. He sang Amy Winehouse's 'Back to Black' and garnered significant attention from the presiding judges. He even made it to the show's 'Hollywood Week' challenge but backed out of the mid-competition and did not make it to the challenge.
Later, in an interview, he iterated that he chose to leave the season after reaching a crucial position in the show due to personal family reasons. However, on his next season audition, he revealed that he took a deliberate break as a 'boot up' and to perform better in the upcoming season.
Evidently, he returned to contest for the 18th season of the show premiered in 2020 with the song 'You Say.' The judges moderately received his performance as he received a heartfelt deliberation from one of the judges, Lionel Richie.
The remark was one of the highlights of the show, where Richie said, "We have a big problem, because, honestly, I don't like you. For some weird reason, you're not sitting well with me. I don't like your voice. I'm being honest. I'm being very honest. I don't like your attitude and I don't really think you're going to make it in Hollywood."
The comment made a dent in Merico's feelings, yet he gradually rose to the season's 'Top 20' list. But, he could not gather enough votes and was eventually eliminated for the next step of selection, which was the 'Top 10' position.
However, in 2021, he and the nine other eliminated contestants were called back for a special segment on the 19th season. They were invited to perform on stage to give them a chance to perform in front of the audience as their show was canceled due to the pandemic in the previous season.
