Mike Bayer, popularly known as Coach Mike, is the founder of the mental health and developmental coaching facility CAST Center.

Who is Mike Bayer?

Mike Bayer, popularly known as Coach Mike, is a mental health expert, personality development coach, and television figure. He is a two-time recipient of the New York Times best-selling author for his books, 'Best Self: Be You, Only Better' (2019) and 'One Decision: The First Step to a Better Life' (2020).

Bayer is the founder of CAST Center, a popular facility for mental health and developmental coaching services. He established the center in 2005 and has been contributing as its CEO ever since then. Additionally, he is the host of a podcast program, Always Evolving with Coach Mike Bayer.

Early life and Gay

Mike Bayer was born on 19 September 1979 in California, USA. 

He struggled at a young age with his sexual orientation. Despite his high school popularity and captaincy of a basketball team that ranked in the top 25 in the country, he was always unhappy about his homosexual orientation. The uncertainty over his sexuality eventually led him down a road of self-destruction and drug addiction. 

Bayer even tried to comfort himself by referring to his sexual orientation as a phase, but it was not. His high school religion class that taught homosexuality was a sin made him feel terrible about himself. He would also punish himself by hurting himself. The battle gradually resulted in the use of ecstasy, nitrous oxide, cocaine, ketamine, acid, crystal meth, and many other drugs.

He believed that drugs made him comfortable with his identity. However, one instance sobered him up. One day, when he was looking at his bathroom mirror, his image astounded him, and Bayer noticed that he had lost too much of his body weight. Soon, he made an effort to get rid of the addiction.

He came out as a gay person when he was 19 years old.

Career

Bayer goes with the name Coach Mike. The personality development coach's path references his past experiences and inspiration to people who wanted to change their lives. His work supports the mission to help individuals acquire positive mental health.

He spent his initial stints as a drug and alcohol counselor (CADC-II) and a board-qualified interventionist (BRI-II). 

CAST Center 

Bayer established CAST Center, a notable dual-diagnosis treatment clinic in Los Angeles, California, in 2005 and has been serving as its CEO since then. He has a solid history of assisting A-List celebrities in their mental healing and recovery at the center.

CAST Center soon became an immediate clinic for musicians, athletes, entrepreneurs, and anybody looking to live more genuinely, productively, and happily. The facility has a group of capacitated personnel, from medical doctors to psychologists, therapists, coaches, and many other professionals, to deliver services related to positive mental health. 

The services range from scientifically proven therapies like cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapies to "Best Self Coaching," for those who simply want to achieve more in their lives. Bayer told WEHOville in 2019 that half of their service seekers were people struggling with substance abuse.

Bayer has held various roles, including corporate team-building, motivational speeches for various events and Fortune 100 organizations, and facilitation of innovative workshops, in the last 16 years of service in the field.

Bayer is also a member of Dr. Phil's advisory board and frequently appears on the show. He officially joined Dr. Phil, a top-rated daytime talk program, as a regular contributor, with his debut episode premiered on 20 April 2018. He has also appeared on other talk shows such as The Doctors and Dr. Oz.  

Working with Demi Lovato 

American Singer Demi Lovato had previously struggled with depression, bulimia, and substance abuse, and Bayer assisted her in overcoming her addictions. 

The two met following Lovato's disastrous mushroom trip and her desire to change her life. The catered interventions by the mental health expert, Mike Bayer, brought a substantial improvement in the mental health status of Lovato. Shortly after her recovery, Lovato decided to direct her efforts to help people going through the same issues like hers. After that, she contributed as the co-owner of the CAST Centre alongside Bayer to help transform people's lives.

However, the US Magazine in 2018 reported that the two have lost touch and rarely communicate. Lovato's relapse was also discussed in the editorial alongside her plans to exclude Bayer from her sobriety. Furthermore, Radar Online was cited on the same piece reporting Lovato's departure from CAST Center.

Bayer has been hosting the podcast program, Always Evolving with Coach Mike Bayer since 2020. It's a 45-minute podcast that invites intriguing guests to discuss new insights, unconventional wisdom, and critical solutions on the decided podcast theme.

Book

Bayer acclaimed the recognition of New York Times Best Selling author for both the books he has penned, namely, 'Best Self: Be You, Only Better,' released on 8 January 2019, and 'One Decision: The First Step to a Better Life,' released on 29 December 2020.
