There he was offered a role in the 1975 movie Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze, after which he began his acting career.

In 1975, after his debut in Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze, Berryman appeared in the critically lauded film One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest in the same year. His next role was Pluto in the cult classic film The Hills Have Eyes, which became his breakthrough character. He also reprised the role in its 1985 sequel, The Hills Have Eyes Part II.
Subsequently, he took several projects in the science-fiction, horror, and fantasy genres such as Deadly Blessing (1981), Voyage of the Rock Aliens (1984), Weird Science (1985), and My Science Project of (1985).
Followed by that, Berryman was also cast in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986), The Barbarians (1987), Saturday the 14th Strikes Back (1988), Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989), Evil Spirits (1991), and Double Dragon (1994).
