Melody Holt is an entrepreneur, cast member, and producer of the reality television series 'Love and Marriage: Huntsville.'

Who Is Melody Holt?

Melody Holt is an American television personality, entrepreneur, home builder, motivational speaker, and author. She is prominently known for co-starring and producing the OWN's reality series Love & Marriage: Huntsville with her ex-husband, Martell Holt. 

She is also the CEO of a multi-million dollar property preservation company, Holt & Holt Entrepreneurship, LLC. She established the organization in October 2010. The company deals with assets management and real estate. Recently, in June 2020, Holt started Masterclass with Melody, a project that educates aspiring entrepreneurs to develop successful careers.

Holt has also remained in the spotlight as the host of OWN's Behind Every Man. She also created a popular spirituality-themed clothing line, God Said Go.

Early Life & Education 

Melody Holt was born on 11 November 1985 in Alabama, USA. She grew up in a small town, Brundidge, Alabama. Although Holt spent her childhood in a small town, she always found ways to keep herself occupied. She learned to play the piano, participated in plays and competitions, and was also involved in school activities. 

In 2004, she enrolled in Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University and pursued a degree in Bachelor in Science. In 2007, she graduated with a Bachelor's degree with a major in English / Language Arts Teacher Education. 

Holt was involved in many activities and societies in college, including Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. William Hooper Councill Oratorical Society, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Alabama A&M, and Gospel Choir. 

Career

Upon graduating, Melody Holt began working as a schoolteacher. She worked as an English teacher in a middle school. She then left the job and moved on to start her own business in 2010.

Holt & Holt Entrepreneurship

In October 2010, Holt and her ex-husband Martel established a real estate and assets management company called Holt & Holt Entrepreneurship. Since then, Melody has been serving as the CEO of the business house. In just a decade, she has built her company into a multi-million dollar property preservation business. 

According to Holt's LinkedIn, it is an Alabama-based company that provides services across Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Chicago, IL. 

The former couple had also established another business called Holt Custom Homes that provides interior designing services. 

God Said Go

She is also the owner of an apparel line called God Said Go. According to Holt, the name serves as a motivating message that one should move on when God says it's time to move. In an interview with Authority Magazine, she said, "So many women have messaged, inboxed, or told me in person how that one saying has caused them to shift their mindsets and take action. I really couldn't ask for more than that to confirm that I'm doing exactly what I should be doing."

Masterclass with Melody 

One of her most recent business ventures is Masterclass with Melody. She launched the project in June 2020, where she provides classes and training to aspiring entrepreneurs. According to the official website, "Melody provides students with hands-on guidance; exposure and access to other leaders in the industry; and prepares them to be ready to work even before the course ends."

Music

Holt released her single titled 'Tell Tale Signs' in March 2021. The song also charted at number 4 on the R&B charts. 

'Love and Marriage: Huntsville'

Holt and her ex-husband Martell have been a part of Oprah Winfrey Network's reality television show Love and Marriage: Huntsville as reality stars and producers. The show revolves around three African-American couples who team up to restore Huntsville, Alabama, via their joint real estate venture called The Comeback Group. 

All the reality stars are long-time friends, and the series shows their journey of personal and professional endeavors. The show initially aired in January 2019 and is now in its third season. 

The third season was premiered in July 2021 with the addition of a new couple. Holt and Martell's journey after the divorce was also featured in the third season.

Personal Life

Holt was married to her ex-husband Martell from July 2008 to June 2020. The couple has four children. The two got divorced on 12 March 2021 in Alabama, citing "incompatibility of temperament" or "irreconcilable differences."

According to official papers collected by Bossip, each parent will have joint legal and physical care of their four minor children, with each parent establishing their weekly schedule. Neither parent will pay child support, but they will split the expenses. The estranged couple consented to dissolve all the business partnerships, and no alimony was awarded to either side.

Holt revealed that she and Martell broke up in April 2020, and she moved from Alabama to Georgia because of the separation. The couple was said to have dealt with Martell's past infidelity, which was also shown in Love and Marriage: Huntsville season 1.
