Mark started his football coaching career as a graduate assistant coach working for Iowa Hawkeyes Football in 1989. Finally, after coaching over half a dozen University teams all over the USA, Mark Stoops joined Kentucky Wildcats on 27 November 2012. Since then, he has regularly appeared as their head coach. The university's team extended his contract till 2027 in 2021.

Mark Thomas Stoops  is an American University level football coach. He has worked with several schools and colleges such as Florida State University, the University of Miami, and the University of Arizona. Moreover, Mark has coached famous players like Philip Buchanon, Sean Taylor, Brooks Reed, Bud Dupree, and Josh Allen in his 30 years long coaching career. As of now, he is with the Kentucky Wildcats as their head coach. 

Mark started his football coaching career as a graduate assistant coach working for Iowa Hawkeyes Football in 1989. He worked there until 1991 and later joined Nordonia High School as their defensive backs coach from 1992 to 1995. In 1996, South Florida Bulls hired him as defensive backs coach. Mark stayed there for around a year and went on to serve the University of Wyoming Cowboys in the same position from 1997 to 1997.

Likewise, Stoops also coached the University of Miami Hurricanes in 2001, Arizona Wildcats in 2004, and Florida State University in 2009. Finally, after coaching over half a dozen University teams all over the USA, Mark Stoops joined Kentucky Wildcats on 27 November 2012. Since then, he has regularly appeared as their head coach. The university's team extended his contract till 2027 in 2021.

In Ohio, USA, Mark Stoops was born to his father, Ron Sr., and Dee Dee Stoops on 9 July 1967. In Youngstown, his parents raised him alongside his three older brothers, Mike, Bob, and Ron. Growing up in Youngstown, Mark studied his high school level at Cardinal Mooney High School. He later went to join the University of Iowa for college education and played college football for their team.

All of Mark’s older brothers are former football players and have also played for Iowa. Moreover, like Mark, they have all coached several college football teams. Mark’s second-eldest brother Mike served the Arizona Wildcats as their head coach from 2004 to until he was fired in the 2011 season. In the 2004 season, Mike had hired Mark as one of his coaching staff.

Bob Stoops is the eldest of the Stoops brothers. He was born on 9 September 1960 and is seven years older than his brother Mark Stoops. He played college football from 1979 to 1982 and later coached several college teams in the USA such as Iowa, Kent State, Kansas State, Florida, and Dallas Renegades. During his years as an American football player, he had become the Team MVP of Iowa in their 1982 season.

After over 19 years of marriage IN 2021, The Kentucky head coach, Mark Stoops and  Chantel Stoops  decided to go different ways. Mark and his ex-spouse had been married since 2002.  The former couple is parents to two sons, Zack Stoops and Will Stoops. 

According to Saturday Down South (SDS), the couple announced their separation in January 2021. Mark said,

It is very difficult to make an announcement about something that is so personal for our family, however, after careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce.

After the statement, therehaveno official statement from Chantel regarding their divorce. However, it has already been over ten months since Mark’s first announcement. Thus, they might well be divorced by now.
