Maribel Aber is a news correspondent and TV show host. She has mainly gained fame as the host of CNN Network’s series Money Matters with Maribel Aber.

Who is Maribel Aber?

Maribel Aber is the host of the famous digital series Money Matters with Maribel Aber on CNN. She first joined the network in 2012 as their business correspondent and has been since working with them. She also makes guest appearances on several other CNN shows like HLN’s Morning Express with Robin Meade, On the story with Lynn Smith, Weekend Express, etc.

Aber's work focuses on how businesses, money, personal finance, and the economy affect families and consumers. She has also reported on breaking news for CNN, including the 2015 China stock market fall, the Sandy Hook Elementary school catastrophe, and the Facebook IPO in 2012.

In addition to that, Aber hosted and produced Wall Street Week and worked for The Broadway Channel as an entertainment anchor, correspondent, and producer. She covered the Tony Awards and all-important red carpet events on Broadway. Aber also worked as a freelance anchor for AOL, MSN, and Brain Fuel TV, a nationally syndicated educational television show.

Before joining CNN in 2012, Aber worked more than a dozen different jobs. She began her professional career in securities regulation with the National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. (now recognized as FINRA). Aber started his career at NASDAQ in 2000 as an associate director of global sales and member services. 

Her accomplishments won her a position as vice chairman of NASDAQ's head of staff in 2001. Later, it was followed by an elevation to vice president of the NASDAQ MarketSite, including the NASDAQ Opening Bell.

Moreover, during her time at NASDAQ, she worked with CNN to broadcast America Votes 2004 live from the NASDAQ MarketSite. She also secured a deal with Reuters Group Limited to integrate the NASDAQ Tower and Reuters Sign properties in Times Square to establish the world's largest outdoor digital display system.

Aber then worked as a Financial Expert in Experian from December 2009 to March 2010. After that, she became the host of MSN FilmFan in Next New Network (June 2010-January 2011). Similarly, her other jobs list includes her works at AOL (2010-2011), First Vision Media Group (2011-2012), The M&A Advisor (2011-2012), Movie Loft Productions (2011-2012), etc.

Maribel Aber took birth on 29 November 1976. She was born and brought up in Virginia, the USA, alongside her brother.

Maribel’s father, CPO Armando P. Alacbay, was a US Navy veteran. She praised her father and all the armed forces veterans on the occasion of the veteran day through a post on her Instagram account. 

Aber’s mother’s name is Lourdes Fangonil Alacbay. She recently passed away on 27 July 2021. 

Aber completed her bachelor’s degree in 1995 from the University of Virginia. She majored in foreign affairs alongside the German language as her minor subject. She also has a Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD) from New York Law School. She graduated in 2003.

While the Corona pandemic, Maribel had to make several changes to her work routine to broadcast news.

During the pandemic, she worked from her home in Florida after shifting from her usual workplace in New York City. She also discussed working during the pandemic with the Action News’ anchor Matt O’Donnell in True Philadelphia Podcast.

In the podcast, she talked about her home workspace background and career as a broadcast journalist. She initially had a book background while giving her first live hits from Florida. However, she changed it after realizing she would be using her temporary workspace for quite some time.

He is a former General Counsel of the American Stock Exchange NASDAQ. Moreover, he was also the Senior Vice President of NASDAQ.
