Who is Marianly Tejada?

Marianly Tejada is an actress and model. Her worldwide fame began after she won the pageant title, Miss Dominican Republican. Moreover, she is best known for appearing as Bronwyn Rojas in the 2021 TV series, One of Us is Lying.

Tejada dabbled into acting with a minor role debut in the 2013 film Who's The Boss?. It followed her role as Mujer 3 in the 2014 film Once Upon A Fish. 

Her other notable movies and TV shows are Bridecon (2018 TV series), Orange Is the New Black (2019 TV series), Seeds of Power (2021 short film), etc.

She is the Youngest in her Family

Marianly Tejada was born in San Francisco de Macoris, Dominican Republican on 4 July 1992. Although her parents' names are not available on verified sources, she is the youngest child in the family with four elder siblings.

Born with a Dominican Republican nationality, she relocated to the USA at a young age. Her mother, an interior designer, called her to her native place to participate in the beauty pageant. It was when her professional modeling career began.

Moreover, Tejada went on to win the Miss Dominic Republic title. It followed her participation in the title race of Miss World.

Played the Lead Role in 'One of Us is Lying'

The American mystery drama series, One of Us is Lying is an adaptation of author Karen McManus's 2017 novel.

It is about five high school students at Bayview High who faces detention. The five students are Addy portrayed by Annalisa Cochrane, Bronwyn by Marianly Tejada, Nate by Cooper van Grootel, Simon by Mark McKenna, and Cooper by Chibuikem Uche. In addition to Alimi Ballard as Kevin Clay. 

Moreover, while in detention, one of the students, Simon, dies of an allergic reaction. Simon being a snitch in the class, each of the four remaining students in detention had an individual motive to murder him. However, the initial examination reveals that his death is not by natural causes. Hence, an investigation ensues on all four of them.

The series premiered on the video streaming network Peacock on 7 October 2021, with 8 episodes. It introduced actress Tejada to the leading role of Bronwyn right from the first episode, and she appeared on all 8 of them.

Bronwyn is a Sassy, Brainiac, and Non-apologetic High School Teenager

Bronwyn is a tall woman with brown eyes and a tanned complexion. She wears specs and has long, curly brown hair that she wears in a high ponytail most of the time. 

Her character Bronwyn, who is at the top of her class, is so focused on the future that she barely considers the present. Most of her peers respect her more than they like her, and a few of her opponents are curious how far she would go to go ahead.

She is a dedicated student who went to tremendous measures to succeed in school, including taking exam answers from her chemistry teacher's file cabinet. She doesn't enjoy being wrongfully accused of having her time wasted, and she has often expressed her dissatisfaction with her incarceration.

Bronwyn dislikes admitting she made a mistake, even if it was evident, like when Nate observed her stealing Simon's luggage. She is also boldly protective of the people she loves, even threatening Simon's life to protect her sister.

In one of the interviews with roseandivyjournal.com in October 2021, Tejada talked about her character Bronwyn as a sassy, brainiac, and non-apologetic high school teenager in the series. In addition, she has a sister with whom she is most attached.

In her words, "I love that Bronwyn is not apologetic about being the brainiac of the group and she also possesses quite a bit of sass. Her heart beats for the people she cares about, especially her sister Maeve."

Furthermore, in January 2022, Peacock announced the series renewal for its second installment after a well-received first season. But again, the release date and the cast members' names are still under wraps.

Along with the news, the network confirmed that Erica Saleh, who adapted the novel for television, will return as showrunner for season two, succeeding Daro Madron, who will remain as executive producer.
