Malachi Weir was born in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He attended high school in Massachusetts and has a background in sociology and psychology.
Weir debuted his acting career as Bill in the 1996 movie Bugged. Following his appearance in the film, he was featured in two shorts, The Sight in 1998 and The Window in 2000. In the same year, he also starred in the long-running TV series Law & Order for five episodes until 2010.
In 2001, Weir landed the role of Tommy Epps in the TV series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. He appeared in two TV shows in 2004: The Jury and Rescue Me. After two years, he was featured in another TV series called Love Monkey.
Weir had a recurring role of Mohammed in the 2007 TV series titled The Naked Brothers Band. He appeared on the show for seven episodes. In an interview with Beautiful Ballad in January 2022, Weir talked about how he got attached to the movie after auditioning and felt "extra joy" after getting selected for the part. He also mentioned that his background in psychology and sociology also helped him in his performance for the movie.
