Who Is Lori Stokes?

Lori Stokes is an American reporter and news anchor currently working at WNYW-FOX 5 News. She joined the network in 2017. Before that, Stokes worked as co-anchor of Eyewitness News This Morning at WABC for 17 years. 

Stokes started her career as a medical reporter. Then in 1986, she worked as the co-anchor at WCIA in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. She was popular with the viewers in that state for two years.

Stokes then worked for WBFF-TV, Baltimore’s Fox station, as a crime and street reporter. Subsequently, in 1996, Stokes joined as a reporter for ABC affiliate WJLA-TV in Washington, DC, where she served as the evening anchor at 6 and 11 o’clock. She also did a cover of the World Trade Center attack on 11 September 2001, and because of her excellent work, she was honored with the George P. Foster Peabody Award. 

Likewise, in 2003, she received the ‘Congressional Black Caucus Celebration of Leadership Award’ for her civic service and status as a positive role model. Stokes also worked at MSNBC/NBC, where she reported for NBC Nightly News Weekend and anchored NBC News at Sunrise and Weekend Today Show

Lori Stokes was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on 16 September 1962. She is the daughter of late United States Representative Louis Stokes and Jeanette Stokes. Stokes is 59 years old as of 2021. She is an alumnus of Howard University and Ohio State University. 

Husband 

Lori Stokes was married to the American reporter, Brian Thompson. The pair met during their job interview for CBC affiliate WBTV. However, the couple got divorced later.

Daughters

The couple has two daughters together: Nicolette and Alexandra. However, Stokes and Thompson remain friends and co-parent their daughters.
